No, but Yep Grin

redskyatnight · 31/01/2012 11:31

Depends ... Quite often I just do a quick clean and I'd just hoover the middle/readily accessible bits to get the worst of it . Less frequently (or if MiL is visiting) I'd hoover the whole room, including moving furniture, under rug etc.

so whether yabu depends on the type of clean required and whether DH knew that (or could reasonably be expected to work it out).

RainboweBrite · 31/01/2012 12:59

YABU, if you're expecting him to move furniture, but if it really is just the middle of the floor, YANBU. I always concentrate most effort around the doors, as this is where the dirt builds up!

Kayano · 31/01/2012 13:02

My DH is in charge of hoovering. I can't be chewed don't like doing it so do the ironing instead

MateyMooo · 31/01/2012 13:15

DH usually in charge of hooverin, but on moving the sofa realised that someone was either coming or going (ashes to ashes, dust to dust)

also pissed at his assertion that hes 'done the hoovering for me' like its not his muck!

YANBU
If the hoover is out you hoover all easily reachable floor. Coffee and kitchen tables are moved, not big stuff.
However, until our horrible heavy Dyson explodes it's his problem. He choose the stupid thing.

Nagoo · 31/01/2012 13:22

Oh god, don't start us on 'helps in the house'

MateyMooo · 08/02/2012 10:36

i just mean that if we share the duties he should do his share properly.
tbf he does much more that i do... he just doesnt do it properly!

people have different versions of properly. if hes not doing thehoovering the way you like then you have you choices.

Accept it
or
Do it yourself

OTheHugeManatee · 08/02/2012 12:50

Leave the bastard Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 08/02/2012 13:11

I rarely Hoover under the sofaHmm

Life is too short,surely......

IDoNotLIKEFun · 08/02/2012 13:15

Someone has to do it properly though.

Paula Yates mentioned it in one of her books - that "helpful" DHs will not do edges or stairs. I don't know why I remember that but I do - every time I am dragging the sodding hoover up the stairs.

IDoNotLIKEFun · 08/02/2012 13:21

And FROTHING BERSERK at the hoovering, "for you"

DH used to say this about the occasional hanging out of laundry, 90% of which was his and our children's clothes. While I was otherwise engaged Doing The Childcare for him Grin

MateyMooo · 10/02/2012 13:52

IDONOTLIKEFUN i think i'll remind him of that one next time i let him out of the cellar to do the housework!

DamselInDisarray · 10/02/2012 13:56

He doesn't have to hoover under the sofa. That seems excessive. I do wish my DH would move stuff that's all over the floor (and put it away) rather than just hoovering round toys etc.
