woman shopping at Sainsbury wearing all in one pyjamas

... spotted this afternoon at my local branch.

Have been feeling depressed at how rough the area has been getting recently (crack house at the end of the road, dog shit every 10 yards on the pavement, fly-tipped mattresses and shopping trollies in every ally way).

But the sight of this woman shopping in her pyjamas is the final nail in the coffin.

And I know I'm going to get flamed for mentioning it, but she was at least a size 18, so she looked like a giant telly tubby. I mean - why? It's like deliberately going out without your teeth in, or with a giant wedgie, or with your slippers on. You might as well pin a big sign on your back saying 'feck the lot of you!'.

Sad

OMG that is strange. Maybe she was wearing it for charidee?

cakeismysaviour · 30/01/2012 00:07

I once saw someone shopping in Tescos in a bikini. (In the summer obviously.)

Bestb411pm · 30/01/2012 00:08

The Youth is Wasted on the Young Foundation - taking it back one onesie at a time

Piggles · 30/01/2012 04:56

This ad is on the tv all the time here in the US - and this all in one does have a butt-flap built in, so you never even need to remove it. Yuck. What is the matter with people these days?

I can one-up the pyjama fetish - seen on saturday, a whole group of pre-teenage girls, with thick black eye make up, "bed head" (back combed to birds nest oblivion), pyjama bottoms AND just to complete the look ......... wait for it ........ better than slippers ....... bed socks Hmm

Off they went, in bed socks, it was freezing.

But they thought they looked good! as we all did at that age.

TopazMortmain · 30/01/2012 08:41

Am on phone so cannot find link but google 'people of Walmart'

Now that is a selection of individuals happy to shop in a diverse range of styles.

Not seen a onsie on there yet though.

Mists · 30/01/2012 08:46

There must be something in the air. I saw two teenage lads casually wandering around a shopping mall in the S.E yesterday wearing fleecy babygros. One was pink with ballerinas on and the other was a dalmation print with a hood. They both had thick gold necklaces and gelled hair. They were about sixteen!

I desperately wanted to take a picture for MN but DH and DD wouldn't let me.

Gigondas · 30/01/2012 08:52

My onesies are fantastic (ESP as now lolling round house with newborn). Wouldn't wear them out though

Asturimama · 30/01/2012 08:55

I believe the US teenagers may be to blame for this Wink

Magicky · 30/01/2012 08:57

I am currently wearing all in one pjs (im a lazy cow and haven't got dressed just yet) I love them but I have NEVER left the house in them (well I live in a block of flats, and the other morning someone elses letter came through my letter box and i ran across and pushed it through their door, never moved so fast in my life) I have seen young girls walk past in the full pjs-dressing gown-slippers combo, and its not exactly been warm lately!

Magicky · 30/01/2012 08:59

oh and mines from primark it doesnt have a 'butt flap'

paddingtonbear1 · 30/01/2012 09:00

I have a onesie from primark, I love it. I wouldn't dream of going out in it though!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 30/01/2012 09:05

yes, only go out in your PJs if you are a size 10 and aesthetically pleasing in them Hmm

Threeprinces · 30/01/2012 09:14

Yes, it's the latest trend. I live in a nice area and have seen a bloke in the pub wearing a tigger onesie. Have also seen another late teen wearing one on a main road several miles away. I heard it's quite the trend to go clubbing in them.

And to think I thought twice about buying DS2 aged 7 one!!

OnlyANinja · 30/01/2012 09:19

I saw a girl (17-23ish?) in an all-in one with ears on it at co-op the other day.

She was probably a size 10 but it still wasn't especially aesthetically pleasing. It was reasonably amusing though.

OnlyANinja · 30/01/2012 09:21

Onesies don't sound particularly comfortable to me actually - surely they have to be exactly the right length on the body and on the legs or else they are either flapping or too tight?

D0oinMeCleanin · 30/01/2012 09:29

My sis has one with a tail and ears. Not sure if she wears it outside the house but it wouldn't surprise me.

Dd1 has one. She is forbidden from wearing it to the Co-Op. She may wear it to the other shop if she really must because no-one knows she is related to me in there Grin, it is strongly discouraged however.

OTheHugeManatee · 30/01/2012 09:34

For the hipsters among us, there's a Three wolef moon onesie to be had Grin

Fluoro socks, Global Hypercolour and those weird backwards trousers all had their day. In 10 years or so people will look back on their onesie-wearing and shudder Grin

Mists · 30/01/2012 09:37

I was going to get myself a few while they're in the shops Ninja, until I read your post. I love the idea of anything waist-less but yes, unless it was a couture onesie it would be a pain to wear.

Kladdkaka · 30/01/2012 09:41

My daughter (18) wears this one to school. It's not her pjs, she doesn't sleep in it. It's her favourite outfit.

Stokey38 · 30/01/2012 09:47

She was actually very ahead of the fashion game. This lot are in Shoreditch, there is a grown man who wears one in the shop every day. I hope he gets paid a lot. onepiece.com/gb/shop?gclid=CJu07J-7960CFYsntAodrnf1uw

MrsMumf · 30/01/2012 09:54

I wouldn't go out in PJs however I could understand why, upon purchasing that classy onepiece for £149, you didn't feel able to just wear it in the house. But then I didn't pay even a third of that for my wedding dress.

This thread really needs more pictures. shagmundfreud, can you please take a picture next time of the offending garment?
