to continue to co-sleep

DS is 2.5 and we co-sleep sometimes when DS wanders into my room in the middle of the night. DS stays at his dads a couple of nights a week and ex is insisting that I get DS to sleep in his own bed because DS gets up in the night and ex has a struggle to get him back into his own bed. This results in ex's np and children being disturbed - he (ex) lives in her house.

Ex also mentioned something about it not being good for DS to co-sleep. Baloney imo.

I've done as ex asked Hmm but now I'm wondering why. DS still wants to cuddle up to me and I don't want to tell him he can't.

AIBU to tell ex I wont be putting DS back in his bed in the middle of night.

IMO there is nothing wring with co-sleeping. Ds would not be better off in his own bed (but probably not worse off either at 2.5).

I do feel a bit sorry for your ex sleep deprivation at least twice a week doesn't sound like much fun.

No. YANBU. If you want to cosleep in your house, then you go ahead. If you ex does not want to cosleep in his house then that's his decision and he will have to work round it when he had ds.

You shouldn't stop, but maybe help your DS to understand one rule at Mummy's, different at Daddy's.

I'm torn about this as I co-sleep and it's lovely. However I think it's important for kids to have a good nights sleep and consistency between parents, whether together or apart re sleeping is really important.

So I guess it comes down to what is best for your son? Can he cope with two different routines? Does the benefit to him co-sleeping with you outweigh the confusion and perhaps conflict and distress sleeping on his own at his dads?

DP and I have conflicted over bedtime routines. My way gets dcs down asleep at a good time. His way ends in overtired children going to bed too late, getting up etc. I won that one Smile
