NorthernGobshite · 29/01/2012 12:12

Ha ha! brilliant!

DonInKillerHeels · 29/01/2012 12:15

And I thought my parents were curious for calling their house Ebenezer (yes, I know it has biblical connotations but it's ugly)

AfternoonDelight · 29/01/2012 12:24

TheMonster · 29/01/2012 12:28

I saw one called Somewhere the other day. I quite like it.

TalcAndTurnips · 29/01/2012 12:39

There's a house called Uhura near here - named presumably after this illustrious lady from old-style Star Trek.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/01/2012 13:26

I'm going to change my house name to DUNCLEENIN! Grin just to piss my mother off!

Gonzo33 · 29/01/2012 13:32

DonInKillerHeels Are your parents selling up? I saw a house called Ebeneezer for sale the other day in our desired location and I suggested it to DH. Only because he is a Scrooge Grin

YNK · 29/01/2012 13:34

There's a house near me called Fir Q Hall!

HardCheese · 29/01/2012 13:36

In fairness, I think 'areola' means something along the lines of 'open place' in Latin. But I'd be quietly sniggering too.

SesameSnapped · 29/01/2012 13:54

Haha, brilliant!

I live near 'The Shire' and it sort of looks a little hobbity.

ugt1 · 29/01/2012 13:55

maybe they don't know what it means and just thought it sounded good.

ComposHat · 29/01/2012 13:58

Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't occupied by a former page 3 girl is it? Maybe Linda Lucardi (gives age away) has moved into your street.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 29/01/2012 14:15

Hilarious lol

averageyorkshiremum · 29/01/2012 14:19

Hah! i can just imagine my mum if she saw this blushing the whole way down the street. The council near us have a sense of humour apparently, they named a new estate built on a former yoghurt factory Pasture Rise!

Thankgodforcaffeine · 29/01/2012 14:19

:o :o

GoingForGoalWeight · 29/01/2012 14:23

'House next door to nutter', with a big arrow pointing to the left - would be mine - to piss her orf next door. [grin (I loathe the evil bitch), prejudice, racist, anonymous malicious caller to authorities about us. (sorry i know it's another thread, just to have to vent) ahh that's better Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/01/2012 16:24

Grin @ 'Pasture Rise'! What a shame there aren't more councils with a sense of humour!

carabos · 29/01/2012 16:35

DS1 had a schoolfriend whose house was called "schoolfriend's house". Genius. It meant that it was really easy to find for kids and adults alike.

Helenagrace · 29/01/2012 16:35

I once worked in a hospital which decided to give its numbered wards the names of birds. They got as far as printing the sign for the urology ward...Peacock Ward.

Funnily enough the sign was never used.

There's a house near my mum called "Hellinside". No idea if it is!

Helenagrace · 29/01/2012 16:36

Oh and I once went to an NCT coffee morning in a converted church called Pew Corner.

BalloonSlayer · 29/01/2012 16:41

We were looking at holiday cottages recently and there was a nice one that was a converted police station. It was called Evening Hall. Grin

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite · 29/01/2012 16:49

Saw one in Austria called 'Blummeneck' once.
