not to tell DH about my special saucepan...?

OK... wierd one here.... and a light hearted one I hope :)

I thanks to mumsnet converted to the mooncup several months ago. Obviously it needs sterilising after every couple of uses. I have a manky old saucepan which I decided would be perfect for the use! I also have a much nicer, newer set of saucepans. The manky old pan lived in the cupboard under the sink where I keep the cleaning things, where nobody would normally look for anything [bhmm] . The nice new set of pans live in the 'cooking utensils' cupboard.

I came home from work last week and found my 'mooncup pan' in the sink with the remnants of soup in it. DH had used it
I know that logically it won't cause any nasty problems - it had been washed out after it's last use - but it just feels a bit icky

So... dilemma... Do I tell him not to use it, because if I do, I will have to explain why, then he will make a massive fuss complain that he used it once and now he feels sick.

or

Do I just secrete it away in a far away cupboard - further away than last time, and hope for the best and have a quiet life

Tell him and come back to describe the look on his face in detail

Pmsl & sssshhhh Wink

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/01/2012 19:48

I boil my mooncup in an ordinary saucepan. It's being sterilised.

Just make sure he sees you sterilising it next time, tell him "I've decided to use this saucepan for mooncup boiling" and don't mention the fact you already have.

Remember though, not to put it on to boil and then get completely distracted mumsnetting. It doesn't end well for pan or mooncup.

rhondajean · 25/01/2012 19:49

My mum used to have a hankie pan to boil them in. Bleurg.

Thankgodforcaffeine · 25/01/2012 19:51

Lol

Don't tell him. I am usually in favour of being honest, but I think this is a case of what he doesn't know can't harm him.

Still Pmsl though! :o

IgnoringTheChildren · 25/01/2012 19:53

Grin The nice part of me says don't tell him and hide the pan better in future. The not so nice part agrees with WoTmania.

Fear of this kind of a mix up (although I don't know why because it really shouldn't be a problem) is one of the reasons why I use an old microwave dummy sterilizer for my mooncup!

BerryLellow · 25/01/2012 19:55

I use mug-water-microwave.

IgnoringTheChildren · 25/01/2012 19:56

Hmm... Endoplasmic Reticulum is the voice of reason here - that's definitely the more adult way to handle it!

TastesLikePanda · 25/01/2012 20:00

How very sensible - I think I shall use that approach! Thank you ER!

I would do it in the microwave but we don't have one because DH blew it up last year and I don't think work would like it much if I used the one there... Wink

I take mine in the bath with me like some weird toy and give it a little soak. No sterilizing here, but then as I never sterilized the baby bottles etc I'm not about to start now!

ILoveGreggsSausageRolls · 25/01/2012 20:04

I've just asked my DP.

He wouldn't want to be told if it was him

But I would to see the look on his face [bgrin]

TastesLikePanda · 25/01/2012 20:07

If I was evil and was off on holiday without him to avoid the fall out I would tell him.
But he'll just make such a fuss, and he'll start to 'feel really ill' and most importantly he would tell everyone why

Discretion is so not his middle name...

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 25/01/2012 20:08

Needed a laugh thanks [bgrin]

I don't think I could keep it to myself. Dh would be wondering why I was bent double in the kitchen hooting with laughter....

FrancesHouseman · 25/01/2012 20:09

You could tell him that you'll be using that pan for boiling cloths in future so not to use it, but certainly don't tell him about his mooncup soup experience!

TastesLikePanda · 25/01/2012 20:13

I'm glad I've given people a bit of a giggle :)
It's made me alternately smirk and groan when I've thought about it!

AtYourCervix · 25/01/2012 20:15

i haven't boiled mine since the time i needed it quickly and burnt my vagine.

TwoStepsBack · 25/01/2012 20:17

Don't tell him now.

Keep it up your sleeve (the info, not the mooncup or saucepan), to be used only in the event of an argument.

You are guaranteed the last word Grin

ILoveGreggsSausageRolls · 25/01/2012 20:21

AYC I've just nearly spit my Baileys coffee everywhere [bsmile]

Tell him tell him tell him

bejeezus · 25/01/2012 20:22

This reminds me of when my sister was staying once. I came out of the bathroom with the bathroom cup of water and went to talk to her in her bedroom. The water tasted funny-like chlorine/chemically. So I told her not to drink the water for a while, there must be summat up with the supply. Oh no there's not she said, I used that cup to bleach my moon cup in!

SecretMinceRinser · 25/01/2012 20:26

I told dh which was my mooncup pan and put a sticker on the handle. He didn't see why I couldn't just boil it in any pan so he wouldn't be concerned about eating soup out of it. Probably would have done of no others were clean.

TastesLikePanda · 25/01/2012 20:28

OMG! I wouldn't have thought bleach was good for it - the mooncup or the vagine :)

AYC - that's ... ouchy!

Twostepsback - that thought had crossed my mind! Next time we have a blazing one that will be the last sentance I scream at him like a fishwife calmly say...

OP posts:
QuacksForDoughnuts · 25/01/2012 20:45

I've been a bit shy about boiling mine, but it badly needs it. Luckily we just got some new-ish saucepans so I can use one of my older ones for this. OH knows which and wouldn't eat out of it. ER's suggestion is probably best. Hope the soup didn't have anything stingy in! (e.g. chilli)

toboldlygo · 25/01/2012 20:55

I've never boiled mine, just leave it bobbing about in the bathroom sink with a splash of Milton for a few minutes.
