to pay for someone to climb a ladder and clean the gutters?

DP has been promising to do it for 18 months. I refuse to do it as I'm dyspraxic with a very poor sense of balance - I daren't ride a bike let alone climb a ladder. The gutters are clearly massively overflowing. DP is not happy that I've now given up waiting and booked someone to do it for me at the cost of £55.

That someone is now up a ladder cleaning the gutters and also fixing leaks. I phoned yesterday, he came today.

AIBU to have given up waiting and paid? (we can afford it by the way) DP feels undermined and says I've not given him time

He is right. 18months isn't nearly enough time to prepare for such an undertaking, it's not like you took half that before having a child is it?!

YANBU. I get the window cleaner to do mine. DH hates heights and I'm not much better.

Aniseeda · 24/01/2012 13:04

YANBU, he's had plenty of time to do it.

YANBU. 18 months dear god

ChippyMinton · 24/01/2012 13:05

Tell it's done now and he can start preparing himself for the next time it needs doing!

YANBU, i get the window cleaner too, he charges £20 though.

LOL - I suspect that once he finds we can get someone else to do it (and sees the photo of the disgusting muck they've pulled out) he'll be happy to pay in future.

YaNbu!

They are still here and still cleaning. They seem to be on the roof now doing the gutter between the houses

YANBU - overflowing gutters can cause other water intrusion problems so your £55 could be money well spent.

soandsosmummy · 24/01/2012 13:55

All done. Now maybe DD and I won't get soaked by pouring water everytime we step out the front door on a slightly rainy day (and neither will DP Grin)

YANBU - DH is a builder and he does this for a lot of his clients.

oldraver · 24/01/2012 16:26

My window cleaner does it without asking... I only know as I find masses of clumpy pine needles all over the path and it always takes me a while to figure it out

yanbu
