On facebook, someone has set themselves up. Offering Payment Plans.

They offer a range of good, from clothes, furniture, games, tv's ect.

You pay her weekly, and when your done. She delivers the goods to your house.

She say's "Im not a business, or a shop. I just want to help people".

She has nearly 200 people on her list already, and lots of enquiries about goods. She deals with all questions via message not on her wall.

Run!

Bogeyface · 21/01/2012 20:35

Lets be fair, perhaps she is a genuine person who is trying to do something that she thinks will help people who struggle to save but dont want to get ripped off by the likes of Brighthouse, Cash Covetors etc. She may just not know the maze of legalitites surrounding schemes like this and the trouble she may get into. She wouldnt be the first person who sees a simple idea without realising just how complex it actually is.

Or she may be a scammer.

ohokthen · 21/01/2012 20:51

Bogey - Yes, I keep going back to thinking that. Just keep wondering is she really that naive, or is she gunna do a runner with everyone's money Hmm

You used to be able to do this is shops - it was called layaway I think, or something like that. They'd put things aside for you in storage and when you'd paid the full amount you could collect it.

The difference being that it's a shop, registered company etc and if they didn't cough up your item after you'd paid you could take your agreement and payment paperwork to the police and do something about it.

I do think she sounds dodgy and contacting trading standards sounds like a wise move.

AlpinePony · 21/01/2012 21:12

It's "layaway" in the US.

This woman's intentions may well be honourable (and why shouldn't she make a profit?), but, she's asking for a whole heap of legal angst.

OriginalJamie · 21/01/2012 21:16

Erm, if she really wanted to help people she'd offer advice on how to save.

ohokthen · 21/01/2012 23:43

Now I wonder, she obviously doesnt like questions, as I have been kicked off her facebook page Hmm

Avoid and report.
So clearly a scam.

Ginlord · 21/01/2012 23:47

probably a whore

tigerlillyd02 · 21/01/2012 23:54

Do you have a link? Would be interesting to see!! You just copy / paste the web address in the browser bar.

ohokthen · 22/01/2012 00:03

Yea her wall is wide open for all to see. Her products, I have been price comparing seem on the surface to be very reasonable [puzzled]

'TO MAKE A LIVING FOR MY KIDS' on the info page

you wouldn't take the risk surely?, i certainly wouldn't 'help' people this way when i needed 'TO MAKE A LIVING FOR MY KIDS'

piprabbit · 22/01/2012 00:26

Send the link to Wigan Trading Standards [email protected]

eurochick · 22/01/2012 00:26

Sounds dodgy as anything.

And illegal as she is acting as an unregulated finance institution.

Steer well clear.

DodieSmith · 22/01/2012 00:31

How is what she's offering any different from just saving up for stuff yourself? Why would you use some dodgy person off Facebook as your piggy bank?

squeakytoy · 22/01/2012 00:34

She is using photos without permission too.

The only person she is helping is herself, to other people's money.

Pandemoniaa · 22/01/2012 00:41

Highly dodgy. It may sound unbearably snooty but I wouldn't do business with anyone who has such a vague grasp of literacy either. It all looks so very shifty.

So yes, report to Facebook and, more importantly, trading standards in Wigan.

randommoment · 22/01/2012 00:41

Either very dodgy or very thick or more likely both. Facebook police ought to deal with her, but whether they'll manage that or not is debatable.

manticlimactic · 22/01/2012 00:42

I've seen a few pages selling item. There are lots selling Childrens clothes that aren't business pages and asking for gift payments. Always thought pages like those and this one seem dodgy. You'd have to be very trusting or stupid

violetbunny · 22/01/2012 00:49

Even if her business is legit (which I very much doubt), it's most definitely against Facebook's Ts & Cs. You could report her to Facebook, who would probably remove her profile.

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2012 00:58

I would be put off by her grammar, punctuation & lack of being able to string a sentence together. Genuine or not.

If you are offering a service, you should use proper words, not u for you etc.

troisgarcons · 22/01/2012 03:21

I cant get that link to work

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2012 03:38

copy & paste it when you are in facebook

differentnameforthis · 22/01/2012 03:39
