He's 6. He thinks I'm a lousy mum and can't understand why others of a similar age are allowed to play it. AIBU?

I agree ragged.

unfortunately, there is a point where it is near on impossible to monitor games.

At 6 though, you should still be able to do it and be in the right!

No way are you being unreasonable.

I am a teacher and boys (never girls interestingly!) of 9 and 10 are often telling me about bits of Call of Duty. It sounds disgusting to me and I can't believe they're allowed to play. It's an 18 for a reason!

I let my 15 yr old play it because I judge that he's able to handle it fine, he's not affected by it, he's not violent at all, lol, he doesn't swear where I can hear him...but he's 15, nearly 16, not 6!!!

I think depending on parental judgement the age certificates don't need to be that exact at home...but two or three years younger, not 12 years younger

YANBU

Yanbu

I wouldn't let my nearly 11 yr old ds play it. Apparently ds thinks I am too strict - tough shit.

I do know some 5/6 yr olds play it And IMO it severely effects their behaviour.

Ds, 11, tells me that everyone else in his class - Y7, plays Call of Duty/grand theft auto and other 18 cert games. Apparently I'm the only one with any sense then because I wont let him. He played GTA at a friends house which pissed me off, I thought the parents were irresponsible.

A lot of parents are letting their very young (usually boys) children play these games, maybe more who do than those who don't. They just don't admit it on sites like this.

You could be me OP apart from he fact my DS1 is in yr6 and has just turned 11. He is one of only a few in his class not allowed to play COD etc. I know his class well and he's not exaggerating, and most of them have been playing it for 2-3 years now.
I'll let him play 12s but not 15s or over, why son't people realise these limits are set for a reason??
