unbeknownst to me a friend filmed me drunkenly dancing. the next day the camera was passed around for everyone to watch - i was quite happy with this and glad to be laughed at amongst friends but then she mentioned that she intended to upload it to facebook and worse youtube, so when it came to my turn to see the video i deleted it...
...the room went silent, there were a few open mouths.

but wouldn't you delete too to avoid humiliation?
is it so unreasonable? - in the past i have regretted not deleting a similar film.

I ask order deletion, of any photo/vid of me that doesn't show me as the leggy blonde 20-something bombshell I (wish) imagine myself to be AND delete by reciprocal arrangement on request those pics/vids that others feel are less than flattering (If indeed I accidentaly post something that caused offence).

YANBU.

YANBU, I would have deleted it too. And she should be the one apologising!

Worra sums it up nicely.

YANBU

I would have been open mouthed because you had the guts to delete it but not because I though you had no right to :)

Do NOT apologise. There might have been "no animosity" but she had no business planning to upload it to FB and Youtube and you have nothing to apologise for. Now she, and all your friends, know where your limits are on this issue.
