To want/need glasses in an hour>

Furstly, sorry for duplicating my thread I am just feeling a tad hysterical and really need advice.
I've broken my glasses - frame is broken, lens won't sit in. Have tried to superglue lens back in but I can't even describe the shitness that resulted from that. Strings of superglue everywhere, including over the lens. I cannot leave the house without my glasses - cannot drive and wouldn;t dare walk.
I've sorted it with work so I don;t need to be there tomorrow. But I desperately need to find somewhere where they do one hour glasses. Mine are ruined and only good as a desperate measure to help me get to an opticians. Does anyone happen to know if Vision Express in Northampton do a pair ina an hour? Or anywhere else?

I know it's my fault for not having a spare pair....

Just something for others in the same predicament to bear in mind: check they have the lenses in stock before paying ... I didn't when mine broke, so was stuck with no glasses (had to use a very old pair daily, and up to date prescription shades for driving) and no one hour service. V annoyed as they cost more than Specsavers etc, but was willing to pay because I needed them there and then :-/

Then get a £30 second pair off the web in case it happens again - I'm surprised at how good the ones I got were. Smile

"check they have the lenses in stock before paying"

I would have demanded a refund if they didn't have them in stock.

MyCar is absolutely right - I made it clear that I had managed to drive there ok, but as my glasses were now in pieces in the optician's hands I would need glasses THAT day in order to get home.
Having said that. the chap was absolutely lovely and had mine made in 30 mins..

Hurrah. I go the Specsavers cheap route but I do like their bogof. Spare glasses always a good idea.

SoupDragon - I really should have, but after going through all the faff, I just couldn't bring myself to start again somewhere else. I hate eye tests, and I hate trying to find gasses that make me look 'reasonable' and not beady eyed with my fat face Grin.

Nowadays I use VE for their quickie walk-in there n then appointments (not organised enough to book!), then trot off so SS for a bog-off specs/sunglasses deal, then brought a second, funkier cheapo pair from www.selectspecs.com/
