...to think that clothes from Monsoon should last more than 4 months??

In the summer of 2010 I bought a pair of full priced Monsoon cords from their Fusion range. The first time I put them on, they ripped so I took them back. I was given a replacement pair, as I thought I might have been a little too rough putting them on. Then 4 months later, this second pair have ripped (different places). I have again got a full refund from Monsoon so can't complain there.

My complaint is that this is not the first time clothes from Monson (and other places like Noa Noa) have ripped, seams split or generally worn out well before I am worn out with wearing them. I wouldn't mind if it were a cheaper item, but these are expensive (for me) items of clothes, from brands I would expect to last longer than 4 months!

Does anyone else think the quality of clothes from such brands are letting them down, or am I expecting too much from my clothes?

I think a lot of more 'expensive' shops have now reduced
Quality for cost saving and no longer warrant the price difference they have over 'cheaper' stores. I bought 2 very similar
Dresses - 1 monsoon and 1 Dorothy Perkins. Price difference was £50. DP lasted, monsoon dress was returned
In less than a week

That makes me sad, as I feared I was not the only one!

Monsoon is not what it was in terms of quality and fit. I used to buy lots of the children's clothes there (plus a few for myself) years ago. Not now.

Noa Noa I still buy an occasional thing from, haven't so much noticed a difference in quality, but Lord how dull it has grown!

I bought a lovely top from Fat Face a couple of years ago and the second time I wore it a seam split (yes it was the right size!). Two other tops from there lasted for 5 years before getting holes though :)

Monsoon clothes have ALWAYS fallen apart. In the 90s when I bought something from there I would often resew all the buttons as a matter of course.

Well I expect to get at least 2 years wear out of Primark stuff, so I would fume about this!

YANBU but they've given full refunds/replacements so at least they're acknowledging their mistake. I remember a thread on here once about an LK Bennett dress and they wouldn't accept any responsibility, sent it away for 'independent' (ha) analysis and everything. I can't remember what happened, but that was shocking.

Monsoon were really good about replacing the first pair, and refunding the second pair, but the woman in Noa NOa was a bit of a bitch about it. She said I was unreasonable about expecting a skirt not to fall apart with such delicate fabric, but she did say she would send it to her dress maker to see if it could be repaired free of charge so I can't complain about that.

My new year's resolution this year is to not buy any new clothes and just charty shop buy, so if something falls apart after 4 months I won't feel bad having spent £4.50 on it rather than £45!!
