To be obsessed with stationary and notebooks of any kind?

SHThread · 12/01/2012 22:58

Am I weird in this way?

I buy looooads of notebooks. I sometimes don't even use them! I love pens, pencils. Get protective over any pen I own and try not to let DS steal it! I love diaries!!

Anyone else?

YANBU - I can spend hours in PaperChase.....swooon!

RhondaRoo · 12/01/2012 23:25

Do you get uber excited at the prospect of filling in a new address book (with your new pen)???

I do Blush

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:27

I love it too :)

We had a similar thread about 6 months ago - it brought lots of people out of the woodwork and we had some lovely links!!

Bogeyface - I may have asked you this last time - what's your Gel Pen love? I love Muji .38mm, but the bastards have stopped doing it in pink and the smallest they do it in is 50mm. I even went to the store in Paris to check to see if they did the pink in 38mm, but no

catwalker · 12/01/2012 23:29

Maybe this ought to be another thread but ..... every month someone in my team at work sends an email round asking if anyone has any 'stationary' requirements. I've tried sprinkling my responses with liberal helpings of the word 'stationEry' but she just doesn't get it. Presumably she thinks I can't spell - if she notices at all of course. I've wondered about a merry quip along the lines of, 'yes please, I'd love it if you could arrange for me to sit still for a day' or just trampling all over her feelings (she's a lovely lady) and telling it to her straight that there's only one 'a' in 'stationery'. But I'm too much of a coward. So every month I sit in turmoil looking at her email hoping someone else might say something. I wonder if everyone else in the team is suffering in their own private hell wondering what to do? I doubt it.....

Bogeyface · 12/01/2012 23:29

I do Rhonda, but I hate, despise and LOATHE looking into it and realising that someone has filled in a name and address with the wrong pen and the wrong handwriting (ie; anyone but me!). And when you have to change an address or number, but you know it isnt worth buying a whole new book for that one address or number, it ruins the whole book!

Bogeyface · 12/01/2012 23:31

Pink? Seriously, fucking PINK?!

Black darling, the whole way. And I dont know what its called or its dimensions, which I should take note of because when my corner shop stops selling it, I will go into meltdown! Its the only shop I have seen that sells it too.

[runs off to check pen details and considers buying their whole stock]

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:32

My 'address book' is on my computer - I had to change from a proper book to my laptop as friends hated it when I told them they couldn't move for at least 5 years! Grin

HoneyandHaycorns · 12/01/2012 23:32

YANBU, I am besotted with my nice new diary and love stationery of all kinds. Love gel pens too! :)

I used to live in another country where the range and quality of stationery was simply mindboggling. I miss it!

Anyone know of any good websites?

RhondaRoo · 12/01/2012 23:33

Yes!!! Bogeyface I am the only person allowed to write in mine, same pen, same layout for each address. It's the only way.

I am currently in-between address books, spent a very lovely hour in PC last week and selected a rather lovely one, am now in process of transferring old to new - it's so soothing Smile

GrahamTribe · 12/01/2012 23:34

STationArY - STAY still. :) And no, YANBU, I live near to a branch of Paperchase and can spend hours in there, it's a kaleidoscope of colour and takes me back to my childhood.

tunnelmaniac · 12/01/2012 23:34

No! YANBU! Stationary is lovverley.

ColdWinterNights · 12/01/2012 23:35

YANBU I hate it when DS asks to borrow a pen I know I'll never see it again.

Also my favorite christmas present this year was a gorgeous Letts Diary from my Mum.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:35

Bogey - yes PINK, HOT PINK. Diary, notes, friends - not for business. I know it's frowned upon, but I use dark blue for that - I HATE black... with a passion.

TuftyFinch · 12/01/2012 23:36

I dream about owning a set of 23 Steadler coloured pens. I have 4 diaries and 2 calendars so far this year Blush

Scholes34 · 12/01/2012 23:36

hellhasnofury - too subtle Wink

TuftyFinch · 12/01/2012 23:37

12 pens, Not 23! That would make me weird,

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:39

Another way to remember, for anyone who gives a shit, anyone who doesn't - please feel free to keep spelling it anyway you like Grin

E - for envelope
A - for car

HONEY I used to live in another country where the range and quality of stationery was simply mindboggling. I miss it! Which 'other country' would this be?

ColdWinterNights - 'No' is a complete sentence!!

Diary must be A5, spiral bound. GOOD quality paper and pale lines.

icapturethecastle · 12/01/2012 23:40

I love the line in You've got mail "I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address." I love paper, notes, cards and pencils (would love a tin of derwent pencils - always got one at the start of the school year). Also a lovely pen i have a montblanc given as present that I only use to write cards.

Bogeyface · 12/01/2012 23:41

chipping wouldnt the world be dull if we were all the same?!

Blue.....[walks away shaking head]

I will see if I can find out if my favourite pen, is available in hot pink and if it is, I shall buy you one!

Bogeyface · 12/01/2012 23:41

Why is 23 weird? Sounds like well prepared to me.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:44

Bogey Grin ... not to be too pedantic, but it has to be .38mm or less, I have been scouring all the other shops/brands/etc but none come up to scratch :( sniff. The hotpink is just more cheerful and you can't see it on the other side of the page. Black is just too sombre for me :)

TuftyFinch · 12/01/2012 23:44

Boheyfsve maybe I'll dream of 24, They must do 24 mustn't they?

HoneyandHaycorns · 12/01/2012 23:50

Chipping - Japan. Stationery to die for.

I think I might need to go back for a shopping trip.:)

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 12/01/2012 23:52

Honey - oh I don't know - I don't do all that cartoon kitten stuff... or the flowers & leaves... not sure it's for me?!

HoneyandHaycorns · 12/01/2012 23:59

No, no - I don't do cartoon kittens either, hated all the "cutesie" stuff and especially the stuff with random English poems all over it. But they have lots of lovely grown up stuff too - it's big business! I still cherish some of the nice leather bound notebooks I bought there.

And I have never been able to find a diary here as well designed and user friendly as the ones I bought there.
