to consider Prime Minister's quip re Torrettes as beyond the pale?

Everyone has a bad day and no one can be pleasant all the time. I accept that men are sexist and just raised my eyes at the 'calm down dear' in House of Commons. But to stoop to using Torrettes as name calling device for your opposition is surely beyond the pale. Coming from a man who would have us all believe that he tended his son with a disability, the only conclusion I can make is that Cameron is suffering from stress and isn't fit to look after our children.

Can anyone explain the comment about "that's why you get you hair cut love".

I don't get it at ALL.

Confused

I wouldn't worry about it, IWYO, it was quite incomprehensible to lots of us Smile

Hi, I should explain the comment about hair. Being really honest, I was just gutted to turn on the early morning news and hear the PM's comment. My comment was uncalled for. I am a neurotic, exhuasted mum trying to explain that I have a sense of humour, I get men and I understand that no one is perfect.
I still think as PM it was bad judgement, at a time when I feel, as a family, we need support from our government (even if it is just verbal).

I have Tourette Syndrome and I was offended.

Comments like that continue the stereotypes that I have to deal with on a daily basis. He is the Prime Minister. He should know better.

Gunz - I am not an expert on Tourettes (merely a health journo i.e. I know a tiny bit about the stuff I've had to mug up and learned through interviewing specialists/patients/carers) but I have an impression that people work very hard to control tics, only for new ones to crop up outside their self-conscious control. Can't imagine how frustrating and isolating that must be - and how distressing if it is your child who is affected. I may not know much about Tourettes but ffs, you don't need much imagination to think 'it's a bugger, best not pick on people who have to live with it day in day out'. Only apparently that's beyond Cameron.

My sister's an LD nurse and has a whole load of horrifying tales about the way her patients are treated - and not just by Joe Public but by health and social care professionals as well.
