I can't sleep

All I cam hear is rain lashing down and what sounds like a force 9 gale.

In the morning I will have to go in search of my bins and some fence panels....

I want the wind to bugger off, it makes me anxious.

Totally fed up here, too. Tiles have come off roof, rain leaked in all the windows at the back of the house Sad
We live in a high, exposed area and I'm a nervous wreck.

Am also ratty as hell, through two nights of disturbed sleep!

Stay safe everyone.

well it was better here this morning but still very blowy, there is sun though, at least the rain has stopped for now.

my kids arent back to school yet (do they have the longest xmas hols ever?)
DD is back on monday, DS is to college monday too.

i should have been on nights last night. so glad i wasnt! imagine it would have been a tad busy....i hardly slept though. My fence is down, knew it! heard it go.

im up north., but i think its been terrible in alot of places. Feeling for those without power for 2 days....hope they get it restored soon.

It's starting again. Sad. Had enough.

Scottish Highlands here, we've had gales for what seems like weeks now.
I'm so sick of it and have to go out.
Bring back the snow.

Yanbu - we have lost most of our garden fence now.

Fuck off wind!

VeryLittleGravyOnMeXmasDinner · 05/01/2012 11:40

Our garden fence has blown over and squashed my beloved eucalyptus tree, along with the rest of the herb garden. Sad

One of the fence panels has been smashed to pieces, and is strewn over next doors garden. My poly greenhouse has also been destroyed.

On balance, I'd rather have snow.

YANBU! Glad to see I wasn't the only one awake for hours last night. I went back to bed after the school run this morning to try to catch up, but it's too noisy, so just mumsnetting. I am actually thinking of moving bedrooms to the spare room downstairs, as it is so noisy up in the loft and it makes me feel anxious too, and I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep :(.

We've lost over half of our garden fence - though that was on tuesday, not last night. It was howling round the house again last night, though, and I was surprised to wake up and find we hadn't lost any more fence panels, or the shed roofs. Dh was worried, though, that the river behind the house was going to flood - it hasn't flooded for years, not since they did some flood prevention works out there, but he was properly worried last night. We didn't move lots of stuff, but he did take the two most valuable things upstairs - the external hard drive with all the data backed up on it, and the dog! She was very happy to spend the night on the end of our bed, though dh didn't have much room for his feet - she is a big lab!

Thankfully the river has stayed in its own bed, and not attempted to get into the dog's bed, and the levels have dropped a lot now, as has the wind. Dh is out in the quagmire that is the back garden, digging out the old fence post stumps (they are dug in to a depth of 15", but only the bottom couple of inches is in concrete (a cheap job by the builder, I assume), so if he can hack the rotten timber out of the concrete plugs at the bottom, and widen the holes, he can set the new posts into the old sockets, and fill the holes with concrete, up to the surface level, and it should be a more solid job. But he is cold and wet and dripping in mud, poor man. My job is regular and frequent deliveries of hot tea.
