To scrawl all over letters from school in a red pen & give them 2/10?

DS started school today & came home with a Large Brown Envelope with the word URGENT scrawled across the front.

He was very concerned that I opened & read it. Upon doing so, it contained a wad of 'official' forms that I had already signed & returned in September and the grammar & syntax had NOT improved since the last time I signed them.

Not one apostrophe, tautologies, pluralised singles (wellie anyone?) & garbled, barely legible syntax.

So AIBU to return them signed (again) with corrections in red?

The school is rated outstanding by OFSTED & all letters carried the teacher's or Headmistress' name.

Insert 'of', can't be having mistakes in a post about mistakes, can we?

Spiders, my Mum a retired Head Teacher loves to point out spelling mistakes, she has also run an impromtu lesson on the use of the apostrophe with our greengrocer. I think it is worth pointing out to you that she often receives more than her fair share of green potatoe's and if the greengrocer can sneak in a squashed tomatoe or too, to her order he does.

Beware it is not unusual for some teachers, like greengrocers to want to get their own back!

PS before the pedants start I was trying to be funny with the spelling!

even worse when there are mistakes on the website...!

I don't suppose it was the teachers who wrote all the letters and forms.

But if it will make you feel better, go ahead. Good way to improve your relationship with the school. But make sure you make NO mistakes - but I am sure you won't Wink

I'd say it'd help if they made use of the spelling and grammar check that comes with every DTP program?

I is hating getting the illegitimate lettres from teechers.

It's an admin team that prepare the letters though, not the teachers.

YABU and will look like a tool. I agree with ormirian, not going to help with your relationship with the teachers one bit.

I returned a booklet to school with all the errors highlighted in green highlighter. The acting head was mortified. The office staff have only just started talking to me again.

It's an admin team that prepare the letters though, not the teachers. Teachers and headteachers names are signed on them though, even if they were prepared by an idiotic admin team, so it reflects badly. It should be pointed out I think, doesn't have to be nasty but it is a poor image of the school being presented.
