Not my choice, buying for the DH.

I got IDd at a petrol station in Oxford - I went in to buy some beers, refused. Went back out laughing to DP, and sent him in instead. They refused to serve him as well, as they said he was buying the beer for me, and they had refused to serve me as underage.

I am 33 and he is 48 Hmm

ReindeerBollocks · 03/01/2012 23:43

I had this a lot over Christmas - didn't help DH broke his bloody foot and couldnt get to the shop for me. I actually ranted at the manager in Tesco for twenty minutes about how their challenge 25 policy forgoes common sense.

I was heavily PMT'ing, had a helpless DH and an afternoon of DS's school friends. - needless to say the wine was much needed!!

Problem is I'm a bit embarrassed about going back in their now after my ranting. Blush

When not in angry PMT evil mood I would take it as a compliment, and so should you!

ClaraSage · 03/01/2012 23:46

Compliment, good for you. So many people start looking frumpy and middle aged way before their time.

emsyj · 03/01/2012 23:47

I was ID'd in Morrissons last year (aged 31). When the assistant asked if I was over 25, I said, 'I'm 31' and she said 'ooooooh you don't look it, you're LAAAHVELY!' Made my day. Compliment, definitely!

FlightRisk · 04/01/2012 00:47

Compliment Grin urgh to the southern comfort though Smile

neshnosher · 04/01/2012 06:07

Can't you switch to drambuie OP it's much nicer :)
The video is excellent you're going to need to make sure you have a wee before you press play.
I never get asked my age anymore :(

Hairynigel · 04/01/2012 08:15

Compliment! And stop knocking southern comfort everyone, it's the best drink ever! My favourite in fact :)

Trills · 04/01/2012 08:24

When you were 16 a long time ago they were much less strict.

I suppose it depends if you think it's a good thing that a shop assistant thought you looked under 25, or if you think it's a bad thing that you were buying immature booze and entertainment :o

cakeismysaviour · 04/01/2012 08:39

A compliment!

I look younger than my age (31), but I usually pass the challenge 25 thing and also carry ID for the times that I don't.

Just before Christmas I got asked for ID in M&S to buy champagne and I had forgotton it. :( The assistant was having none of it so I left, went to some other shops and then returned and went to the till furthest from the assistant who refused to serve me. The other assistant didn't challenge me at all.

BarmyBiscuit · 04/01/2012 08:55

I get asked a lot and I'm 35. I hate it though as I have always looked young for my age and want to look older.

Oh and I love Southern Comfort. Needs to have lemonade and ice in it though.

Whatmeworry · 04/01/2012 09:17

Compliment - and Southerns and lemonade w / ice is very nice
