Hi,

My DP has a company car and he was parked in his car park (excellant cctv). A car hit his parked car and has dented it (still drivable yet bug dent). The cctv shows the car and the person stopped then promptly drove off.

A member of his staff recognised the girl and found her details on facebook (they went to the same school) and now the police are involved.

So we have this girls name- can technically contact her on facebook.

I have a dilemma- she's only young- late teens/ early 20's and there is hard evidence, whitnesses and cctv showing her leaving the accident.
My head says leave it to the police- let her get charged- but part of me thinks perhaps I should message her Fb and give her the chance to 'do the right thing' so she doesnt get in as much trouble.

wwyd?

Let police deal with it .... She will probably just get a telling off.

Having been a victim of some sod who bashed my car and drove off I would say involve the police and don't worry about her. If she's old enough to drive then she's old enough to know you don't cause damage and then disappear.

I will leave it to the police- I'm such a soft touch

It is if she doesnt leave her details or report it to the police within 24 hours. Exact same thing happened to DH last week except hi and doorman were waving the car to stop and it drove past them. Police said that driv would be charged if he didn't come in to them in 24 hours.

They got the number and the other driver is insured but it's going to take ages to sort because they don't have his name.

Sorry but I think you keep out, she's committed a criminal offense.

Bloody iPad! It looks likes I've started drinking, number of typos.

i think you should leave it to the police, you are lucky you know who did it.

i saw someone hit my car from the window of my work, and had to watch them drive of as i couldn't leave the room of two year old i was in on their own.
