In the last couple of hours my ds has split his lip, tripped and banged his head against the cabinet, fallen off the sofa and bumped his head resulting in sobbing and crying each time and requiring some level of sympathy and attention from me. I have a grizzly baby attached to my hip, I'm trying to cook dinner and feed baby his tea so i'm increasingly less sympathtic.

AIBU to want him to sit still on a soft and cushioned surface without injuring himself. I fear he may need restraints to acomplish this.

I find a gag and rope works pretty well Grin

Gah. Here you go, even.

just read that back and it sounds like I'm a neglegent mother with all those injuries. He fell of the sofa as I was telling him to get off the sofa.

I want one of those big hamster balls people use for zorbing for the never knackered toddler. He just looks like a giant bruise at the mo

This will do the trick ...

You do not sound negligent in any way. I am the mother of a 19 year old walking accident zone. If there is a worm hole within a 50 mile radius DS would trip over it. Some children just seem to invite bumps and bruises.

naturalbaby · 03/01/2012 19:22

oh yes, that helmet is perfect! i remember seeing them a couple of years ago and thinking 'oh honestly! just supervise your kids better' hahahahaha, i'm eating my words now. he can go from sitting to injured in 0.3 seconds.

he's also given his big brother a delightful set of tooth marks on his back this afternoon. i'm amazed we've got to 29months without a trip to a&e, ds1 had 2 visits involving glue and steri strips to his head by 16months.

My DS got to 20 months before having to get any bits glued back together. Grin He's 27 months now and still bruise central.

He's just so bouncy and careers around shouting 'I run very fast! despite pleas to walk nicely...

YANBU :)

Our boy is 28 months old and is a whirlwind. He spends half his day jumping off the sofa/chairs/steps/toys etc. There is no stopping him short of a straight jacket and ankle restraints. I did consider attacking a bungee cord to the ceiling in the centre of the room but I didn't thing the rafters could take the strain. He's already broken his ankle once and was literally running with the pot on two days later. We've taken the view that we either let him get on with it and expect to spend time at A&E or keep him doped up on ether.
