To be inconsolable that DH has gone to work?

Yes yes I know IABU and wet and one of us has to earn money. And I'm grateful that I get to spend some more time with DC until I find a new job, but we have had such a lovely Christmas, the kids and I have loved having him home, he is miserable at work and I was bloody short sighted and have nothing planned for this week AND it's miserable outside and they are fighting already.

Sigh.

As I said earlier 'inconsolable' was slight embellishment for the purposes of AIBU. Someone described the feeling as 'flat' and I think that's a good way of putting it.

Anyway, that was this morning. We have since had an impromptu visit from friends who drank tea, gossiped, played with DC and have generally cheered us up. And as someone else advised we now have plans in place for the next couple of weeks so that will help get me back into the swing of juggling toddler and baby again.

Good luck to all those of you are having a worrying day travelling or waiting for other people to travel through the hell that is today's weather. And similarly for those of are miserable about returning to work today. (And for those who wish they were returning to work today!)

Their last day of school was the 22nd Dec.

Well, they go back Monday so not quite another week.

Teenagers though so mostly occupy themselves & come down for the odd grumble & rummage through fridgeGrin

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2012 13:11

Pre-teens here diddl. Male ones with with friends round. Can't open the lounge door for testosterone. I am on the lonely stool in the kitchen. Sad

diddl · 03/01/2012 13:14

Oh that´s sad!

Mine usually clear off to their rooms with friends.

Pop round here-it´ll give me an excuse to put the ironing off for even longerGrin

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2012 13:20

Put the kettle on diddl Grin I have mince pies and squirty cream. Smile

mrsjay · 03/01/2012 13:24

diddl · 03/01/2012 13:25

OK-I give up-I haven´t even been at the wine today!

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2012 13:26

Ooh wine. now you're talking.

ChocHobNob · 03/01/2012 13:26

Mine worked all Christmas including Christmas Day so I'm very jealous! Kids have gone back today though and I am Grin They were very excited to see their friends and they had been doing my head in with the arguing. Grin

valiumredhead · 03/01/2012 13:29

Dh went back to work last Weds and worked a night shift NYE so imo YABU and a bit dramatic.

maypole1 · 03/01/2012 13:34

Me to I didnt want oh to I back kids have been ok

One at school and one to go

diddl · 03/01/2012 14:00

Don´t think that OP is being entirely serious, is she?

OP-think of it this way-you all had a lovely time-if he´d been off any longer you might have started to get on each others nerves.

Try not to feel too bad as he trundles off to work & you stay snuggled under the duvetGrin

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2012 14:03

I thought the inconsolable bit was tongue in cheek OP. I was 'slightly sad' when DH went off to work cos the fun's over......

Latsia · 03/01/2012 14:05

Thank you diddl, I was getting denial fatigue Grin .

Latsia · 03/01/2012 14:07

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 03/01/2012 14:10

Mmm, I'll have a, deliciously dusted in light icing, slice with my Brew - thanks !

diddl · 03/01/2012 14:12

Yes, I have Stollen-it´s the one with the marzipan-hope that´s ok.

Wine with it?

Latsia · 03/01/2012 14:15

Oh yes please, definitely Wine

Marzipan always a hit.

I'm back to work today leaving DH at home with DD, Im 24 weeks pregnant fucking shattered and not overly loving my job and Im feeling "inconsolable" too (not really, but I got what you meant)

He goes back next week, but I am so jealous and just wish I was at home getting cuddles from DD under a blanket on the sofa.

JugglingWithGoldandMyrhh · 03/01/2012 14:22

Still working on getting my kids to get dressed - they are 10 and 12 but I'm trying to take solace in remembering the Michael McIntyre Christmas sketch - and enjoying my virtual Brew and slice of Stollen.
Anyone else ventured out today yet - mind you don't go if it's stormy with you, will you ? I just have to get out now, but the storms have subsided here now outside shame can't say the same for inside Grin

ChocHobNob · 03/01/2012 14:25

Weather at school run time this morning was awful here, but had no choice but to go out. Blue skies here now, hoping it stays like that for at least another hour.

Latsia · 03/01/2012 14:26

Ruby I remember that feeling. This time last year I was trudging into work - also wasn't loving the job - pregnant with DC2 and generally grumpy. I remember sitting on the train scowling at my own reflection in the window...

Had to go out this morning with the dog & just missed the rain.

ATM it´s absolutely persisting down & I´m hoping that he doesn´t want to go out farBlush

Latsia · 03/01/2012 14:31

Skies were also blue here for a while but starting to darken again (just in time for DC to wake up and want to go out)!!
