before they jump in with both feet?

I know some threads move fast and there are often cross-posts.

But it is infuriating how often people miss the point of the original post, let alone subsequent ones because they haven't read the thread at all properly, so then the OP or others have to patiently reiterate their points all over again.

Just take a minute, and then your harsh criticism words of wisdom would actually be relevant to the points raised.

baubleybobbityhat · 02/01/2012 17:06

Maryz - you are definitely my long-lost Irish twin you know.

baubleybobbityhat · 02/01/2012 17:12

If you don't believe that people really do not bother to read the op have a look at this thread here and the reply at 17:05!

No, I'm in purple! The OP is in grey

Anyways OP, I haven't read the whole thread but if you really do have a problem with your DH then you should be communicating with him, not sitting on MN.

Trills · 02/01/2012 17:28

I'm in purple too - the OP is green. It seems a bit mean to make someone be grey.

I believe it was described to me as silver, but it looks grey to me. Perhaps you're right I should change it!

PoultryInMotion · 02/01/2012 17:32

I think i've just done exactly that on a long thread :o unashamedly so too :o

FreudianSlipper · 02/01/2012 17:38

i can not see why it is that important

and often the op reaizing that they have made a twat of themselves with come up with some more twatish nonsense

i sometimes just want to put my point across and not really interested in what others have said, i assume this is ok otherwise why would you post on here in the first place other than to get opinions of others (even if they have apparently taken it the wrong way)

If it's a really long thread and I want to reply before I lose the will to live then I just read the op's posts.

I have read threads though were it's obvious that a poster hasn't bothered to read even the op properly.

eg OP: DD is 6 blah blah blah....
Other poster: How old is DD?

HmmConfusedHmm

scottishmummy · 02/01/2012 17:54

yes and....
if you post your detritus about mil, good for nowt dp/dh, etc well expect a comment. rather than rock up and individually thank affirmative posts and buzz off to posts not liked

FreudianSlipper · 02/01/2012 18:21

and is it that much of a problem surely you can or they can just ignore those who have not followed the thread

maybe suggest to mn that you can only post once you have read the whole thread (will have to tick off each reply)

LadyBeagleEyes · 02/01/2012 18:32

I do get annoyed with people that post 'I haven't read the whole thread but...
and then give some totally irrelevent advice that was already posted on page 2 of a 17 page thread.
Why post at all, by then the matter is either resolved, or it's a huge bunfight which nobody is going to win.
So you're either throwing flames to the fire or are totally obselete.

Shutupanddrive · 02/01/2012 18:51

YANBU, but I do enjoy pointing it out that they are wrong! Grin

ViviPru · 02/01/2012 18:56

I agree with FolkGirl. Must be my high IQ...

Like worra I don't bother with pages either.

I think the minimum requirement for having your comment taken seriously is to read all of the OPs posts. Or you're liable to make a dick of yourself.
