AIBU to miss the annual arrival of a Christmas card that isn't even mine?

Every year we get a card addressed to someone else, but with our address. By a process of deduction we worked out years ago that it was actually addressed to the person who lives at number 2 (we live at number one).
Every year for more than ten years, the card arrives and we go and deliver it to the rightful owner (an elderly lady who lives opposite and up the road a bit).

This year it didn't arrive. Xmas Sad
Part of me wonders why and hopes that nothing untoward has happened to the sender.

There's still time. I got one today.
Got one last week that was blank - quite thrilling .

we've lived in our house for ten years now, every year we get one thats posted locally for the people who lived here before us. one day, they are going to meet up and realise that they've moved, surely!!?!
And then, I'll be worrying about the mystery senders of The Card... Blush

My friend gets a hand delivered card for Barbara every year. She is not Barbara. Not even close. She loves them tho as they are usually tiny little hand cross stitched ones, very sweet and festive they are.

raffle - Maybe friend might leave note on door, "Barbara doesn't live here anymore".

jasper Some people just lose it at Christmas, I got a card from DMum that just says "wishing you both a happy Christmas" but not signed. Good job I know her handwriting. Grin

Virgo we worked out ours was from my husband's sister!

I've got three to send off to the previous owners of our house - we've lived here for nearly 5 years. One would think they might let their senders know they've moved, but as the guy still has something from the DVLA sent here every year I'm guessing not!

ivykaty44 · 31/12/2011 11:05

I would be wanting to know why the DVLA was still sending stuff, I would return to the DVLA with a note staing the person no longer lives at this address and they need to change/update their pc system to his new address and email the new address to them.

You don't want baliffs turning up for unpaid parking fines, as DVLA sell on addresses to other companies for a small fee

tribpot · 31/12/2011 11:11

ivy - I think it's a SORN notification but I will carefully inspect the envelope if it turns up next year!

Flisspaps · 31/12/2011 11:14

We've been here for 5 years. Before that, the previous occupants were here for 18 months. Before that, the owners were here for about 2 years. Then there was a lady called Christine, and we STILL get a very nice card for her every year with no return address on it from Jane, Darrell, Katrina and Sian.

It must be nearly 10 years since Christine sold up - surely Jane and Darrell can't have spoken to Christine in those 10 years (or they'd know she'd moved), or they're being PA sending her a card every year, despite thinking she's a bit of a cow for not sending them one (whilst she thinks that Jane and Darrell are being PA because she still sends them a card but never gets one in return...)

In our last house we got a card from Uncle William and Aunty Flossie for a few years. Presumably for the previous occupants. They did stop after a bit though.

ElfOnTheShelf · 31/12/2011 11:27

This is our first year we haven't received a card for the people who lived here 13 years ago so maybe they've twigged on - was a bit miffed tbh as come to expect it Grin

Got a Xmas card from my parents that was blank although knew it was from them as they had included one for DD which was signed Grin
