see it on fb lots

somebody will put "had very little sleep last night" and someone adds "welcome to my world"

"my little girl has been ill all week"................welcome to my world

why not just say "oh poor you" etc

just annoys me and I wanted to let it out , thank you!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

YANBU

Smacks of someone saying get a grip and my life is worse than yours! Not very supportive really is it.

mosschops30 · 30/12/2011 21:20

I do it all the time, but mostly to my mother who lives a good life, on her own, doesnt work, stays up late watching tv or out with man friends then moans to me 'ooh im soooo tired'

WELCOME TO MY FUCKING WORLD

fuzzynavel · 30/12/2011 21:22

Oooh and one has just popped up! Grin

coronet · 30/12/2011 21:24

YANBU but I say it to dh when he complains about the dcs. He hates it too!

anniebear · 30/12/2011 21:27

lol!! you are allowed to say it to DH haha

My child has special needs and we have a real hard time...I could say it so many times but wouldnt dream of it as things other people have upsets , however small, and are still their upsets! if that makes sense!!

but I have 'seen' other people do it

Lol!!!!!!!!! Agree, it is bloody annoying.
Where is the empathy??? Instead of the world welcoming bollocks.

ZillionChocolate · 30/12/2011 23:26

Maybe it's from people who don't enjoy listening to others complain?

hester · 30/12/2011 23:27

You're quite right and I promise to stop saying it forthwith.

SalmeMurrikAgain · 30/12/2011 23:28

DH sometimes says/sings it to me when I'm struggling to keep up with our 3.5 yr old DS. As DH is a brilliant full-time dad, I have to smile and take it on the chin, but it's not my favourite turn of phrase...

jasper · 30/12/2011 23:33

I sing it sometimes . Ok I'll stop

YANBU, it is really annoying, but must admit that I cant resist saying it to DH when he complains about looking after DD and she isnt co-operating. Must drive him crazy.

DashingRedhead · 31/12/2011 15:00

I only ever say it to DH. Hm, noticing a theme here Blush

CrotchFlakes · 31/12/2011 15:01

Only to DH too, here. And only really sarcastically.

humblehippo · 31/12/2011 15:03

YANBU

Definitely an annoying phrase, especially when used in the way you described!

anniebear · 31/12/2011 21:01

lol so we shouldnt say it apart from to say it to the other half haha

Haziedoll · 31/12/2011 21:05

I say it to dh all the time when he is having a difficult time with the kids. Wouldn't be so rude to say it to anybody else.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 31/12/2011 22:36

It doesn't annoy me as much as lol.

DancesWithWolves · 31/12/2011 22:40

Oh - I see it is as being empathetic as in "I understand how you feel as I am going through the same thing".

blackeyedsanta · 01/01/2012 01:49

I think the only time it has slipped out is to h ... yep a theme!

otherwise it is horrible. shows more about the person saying it. no empathy.

LulaBear · 01/01/2012 01:53

Hate "W2MY" because of different choices...I'm not in your world because I chose not to be! lol

MrsBovary · 01/01/2012 02:14

I too say it to DH, but nobody else. He usually groans in response Smile

discobeaver · 02/01/2012 15:55

It's one upmanship isn't it?
I hate it when people say "try living in the real world" because everyone's world is real to them, just some worlds are worse than others.
