Yet another store I use has announced it will be charging for carrier bags.
AIBU to think its just another way to increase their profits. Obv not including M and S is this as I believe they donate proceeds from sale of their bags.

YABU in that we all need to reduce our use of plastic. Carrying your own bags really isn't all that hard; you just need to change your habits. But I agree with whoever said shops should drastically cut their use of plastic packaging as well.

TwelfthNight - do you not just ask the cashier not to chuck your shopping around? Confused

TwelfthNightIsComing · 30/12/2011 20:37

Yes. I do. It doesn't work.

Carrying your own bags around IS hard work, and a fucking PITA if you ask me.

Grumble.

We just get our shopping delivered by Sainsbury. They dont charge for the bags when they deliver. We save the environment by not driving to and from the supermarket.

Most environmental initiatives are pure political and economic nonsense though.

humblehippo · 30/12/2011 20:51

I thought that charging for carrier bags was going to become compulsory on environmental grounds. I am sure I heard it on the news some time ago? So I don't think it is just the shops trying to make a sly few pence!
