to be gobsmacked that there are people in the world who are making their own homemade sperm microsorting machines to try to determine the sex of their next child?

Yeah I'll probably get flamed for linking to another site.

Anyway, I was idly googling sarah beeny to find out her kid's names as I'm nosry having just watched her restoration show and a link came up to this site.

Now, I was vaguely aware that some people followed diet or timing methods or whatever to try to determine the sex of their baby.

But WTAF is this all about? People are hand crafting their own centrifuges and incubators and shit. It's like honey i shrunk the kids!

You can certainly ensure sex selection by IVF if you want that. They have a major problem in India and China of too few girls as everyone wants a boy. It is so bad that in some country places they are buying young girls as servants who then become the wife of the son of the home and I think in some rural areas women are taking 2 husbands. Mind you that might be quite useful.

elliejjtiny 'It's only the clothes that are a definate difference'

how would you know having only boys? IME they are very different.

OMG. I work in an IVF lab so now have some great ideas what to do if our equipment breaks down - loving the incubator that you regulate by opening the lid to cool it down...........

It is great they have a hobby.........and maybe I should live up to my username and set something up in my airing cupboard.

A friend of mine at uni had a pt job centrifuging bull semen. Maybe there is money to be made leasing out centrifuges, like breastpumps, but not.

Well its very common to sort sperm in cattle breeding - the 'female' producing sperm will be heavier and take up more flurescent dye. Easier to find a friendly cattle AI tech surely and slip them a few tenners?

spiderpig8 I used to work with children and I also have a sister who is much younger than me.

All children are different, I meant that there were no gaurantees from having one sex or another. EG if you have a girl and expect to go on shopping trips and paint your nails together then you may well be disappointed. My eldest ds is quite girly really.

I find it highly amusing that people who can't even spell microscop[sic] could manage to do something as scientific as building and using a centrifuge for gender selection! Grin loving the egg beater idea though, very inventive!

CatPussRoastingByAnOpenFire · 28/12/2011 20:04

i did some practise sorting this morning and was totally shocked wat i saw.... the x and y spermies i saw clearly and i was tempted to use my instead cup and finish my attemp...i stopped becos i was battling to pinpoint my ovulation all through the weekend so decided to leave it till next month.....i hope God helps me to get it right but i think i will...
But who needs God, when you have a microscope and an egg whisk centrifuge??
