To reply to my bank in the same style?

Paid £3 into my bank account earlier this week via the cashpoint paying in envelope thingy (v broke and needed to cover a direct debit)

So, today I get a letter from the branch telling me not to pay coins in again as it will cause the machine to break down.

Really want to send a reply that says 'dear bank, please refrain from sending all of your counter staff bar one to lunch between the hours of 12 and 2.

Having to stand in a queue that starts outside on the pavement will cause me a break-down.

Oh, and feel free to remove the coin section from your paying in envelopes and add a message to the machine that says 'no coins' so that paupers like me know in the first place.

Petty

Fuzzywuzzywozabear · 24/12/2011 09:56

I would - what have you got to lose?

ben5 · 24/12/2011 09:57

go for it!

SanTEEClaus · 24/12/2011 09:58

So they have a place to put coins in the envelope but you aren't suppose to put in coins?!?! Makes perfect sense! Xmas Hmm

lubeybaublely · 24/12/2011 09:58

YANBU!

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 24/12/2011 10:00

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/12/2011 10:02

Oh yes, and make it all 1p pieces next time!

... and remind the bank that they are in business to serve you, not the other way around. You are the reason for their business.... they'll love that. ^^ Xmas Grin

BibiBlocksberg · 24/12/2011 10:16

Grin @ pennies and 'the banks being taken on'

I was nice enough to use three separate £1 coins last time - no more - all 1p's from now on!

Feel like I've been told off by my mum with that letter, grrrrrr

And how much did that letter cost to send to you? If you were overdrawn by £3 it would have cost you £££ for them to write to you

minimisschief · 24/12/2011 11:18

was it santander? i hate the fucking place and have finally paid off my overdraft and will be shutting the account down very soon :)

NearlyMrsCustardsHardHat · 24/12/2011 12:08

It won't break the machine at all. The staff are just too lazy to count it.

eandh · 24/12/2011 12:15

I work in bank and our envelopes do say notes only ( and someone did try putting cons in and the envelope got jammed halfway through the dispenser so had to call engineer out to remove part of machine to release envelope which meant cash machine was out of service for other customers) we do have machines inside that specifically take coins and notes (oh and we have 3till positions and we have lunches 11-12 and 1.45 -2.45 as only ever have 2 cashiers and a branch manager (plus banking adviser who deals with new accounts , enquiries etc) apparently we are overstaffed by head office calculations lol

Greatdomestic · 24/12/2011 20:17

Yes, do it, do it!!!!!!

TidyDancer · 24/12/2011 20:20

What a rude letter. If they don't want coins, there shouldn't be the ability to pay them in. Send that letter!

PigletJohn · 24/12/2011 20:23

my bank has a sort of post-box inside where you can put the envelope (in business hours, obv.)

I think the machines have rubber rollers to draw the evelopes inside.
