Soft play versus Call of Duty

I know the Mumsnet jury will tell me to mind my own and their kids, their rules but I am judging. BIL and SIL are staying at the moment. Their 9 year old wanted to come to a baby gym, soft play type place with DD (1) and I. They don't want him to because soft play is dirty and for babies. Fine.

However, he gets to play 18 video games instead.

AIBU to think there is less harm likely to a 9 year old at soft play than playing Battlefield ans Call of Duty?

No drip feeding. They are lovely, as are their children.

Soft play wins every time. Your BIL and SIL are insane.

GeraldineHoHoHobergine · 22/12/2011 22:04

There is a lot of hidden poo at soft play though.....

splashymcsplash · 22/12/2011 22:05

As a 24 year old I was disturbed by call of duty. So on that basis YANBU. Cod is not suitable for a child.

GeraldineHoHoHobergine · 22/12/2011 22:06

I can't believe the ball pool is that hygienic either.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/12/2011 22:07

I specifically told them "no ball pit ". I am now disturbed about hidden poo!

When faced with the question 'soft play (with hidden feces and urine soaked furnishings) vs call of duty' my answer is leaning towards cod. So yabu.

skybluepearl · 22/12/2011 22:55

they may be lovely but they are bonkers. have you said awlt?

LordOfTheFlies · 22/12/2011 23:14

He can wash his hands after soft play

He can't bleach his brain after watching COD

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2011 03:14

Bloody good point vis a vis bleaching his brain. I don't like it in my house anyway but don't like to step on parenting toes.

awlt?

Anyway, DD and I went. No botulism so far. He's being a right grump because I make him switch it off when we got back.

Oh dear

It's good for kids to be around germy places...providing they're healthy in the first place. Soft play is fun for anyone who can't get stuck :o
