that I will have to actually work tomorrow, Christmas Eve-Eve, on my work from home day? Making it a work from home day rather than the desired "work from home" day.

I know I am of course. I'm not on holiday, I'm being paid. But like 99.9% of the non-essential office working population I was rather hoping to take it very easy tomorrow, keep an eye on mails, buy and wrap last minute presents, eat mince pies and get the baby from nursery early after dropping him off late. But no. I am now the busiest I have been this year and there is no respite as it's time sensitive. Yes, yes I'm on MN now but a girls needs some respite! and it took me about four hours to write this message

Anyone else in the same position?

Christmas Eve is on Saturday?

OhdearNigel · 22/12/2011 16:21

She put quite clearly "Christmas Eve-Eve"

GypsyMoth · 22/12/2011 16:21

It's not even a holiday .... Snd it's not Christmas yet anyway

Pascha · 22/12/2011 16:22

YANBU at all. Everyone knows christmas eve-eve is only a working day in the nominal sense. Office staff across the country will be slightly pissed and leaving early tomorrow. The least you can do is punctuate the day with Baileys or Bucks Fizz.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 22/12/2011 16:25

I am fortunate enough not to be working tomorrow, but poor DH is working til 5.30pm and he has a one hour commute to get home. He says that his branch (window suppliers) has been so quiet this week and is quite peed off that they are not being give a few hours off tomorrow.

So he feels the same as you, Tea! It is hardly a life or death matter if no one is around tomorrow afternoon to take an order for windows! Besides, who would be ordering anything like that a day before Christmas Eve? (Which to me is more exciting that Christmas day for some odd reason!)

YANBU and DH would agree with that Xmas Grin

WorraLiberty · 22/12/2011 16:27

Ahhh I missed the 'Eve Eve' bit OP Xmas Blush

I feel your pain. I used to work in retail and worked every hour there was over Xmas whilst my 'pen pusher' friends used to have loads of time off Sad

ThePathanKhansWitch · 22/12/2011 16:29

Oh fook me i'm losing the plot. I thought tomorrow was Christmas Eve. Honest. FFS.

HMTheQueen · 22/12/2011 16:31

I am the same - my boss gave me a HUGE pile of stuff to do yesterday and today.... so I'll be very busy tomorrow, instead of swanning off at lunch with everyone else! Grin

And I am annoyed when I know I have no reason to be, as it is a working day and I will be paid for it accordingly! Grin

PostBellumBugsy · 22/12/2011 16:36

Me, I'll be in the office too. My desk looks like someone has vomited paper all over it. I have so much to do & have been doing MN far too much today as work avoidance. Groan.

Imnotaslimjim · 22/12/2011 16:36

My DH has worked late every night for the last 2 months and tomorrow is no exception. So YABU

TeaMakesItBetter · 22/12/2011 16:36

But it isn't though is it TheQueen, everyone knows it's a working day only nominally unless you are an essential service - mince pie make for instance.

Crap, all I can think of now is essential Christmas Eve-Eve jobs and not what I'm supposed to be doing. Which, if you are interested, this afternoon appears to be going round in circles trying to find the answer to one of my multitide of problems in my over-large organisation.
