I have rather lovely new tiled flooring, unfortunately, glasses shatter into a million gaxzillion pieces as soon as they fall on to it. ON wood, at least the shatter only half the tie, here, its ALL the time, and i am getting very very tired of cleaning up the pieces. would it be soo unreasobale to assume that i would be able to buy glasses to drink from that are not disposable and arent made for kids?

I have loads. They're sold as picnic/barbecue cups. Perhaps it's the wrong season for the shops to stock them. They'll appear again in January, with the Easter eggs.

OtterBaubles · 22/12/2011 11:06

Like these?

FrankincenseStellaAndFries · 22/12/2011 11:06

Camping shops will do them.

StealthPolarBear · 22/12/2011 11:06

yes, they wil be sold as picnic glasses

south345 · 22/12/2011 11:07

Picnic ones are usually plastic, in asda the other day they had some purple glasses sort of a wine glass but a bit thinner if that makes sense, they were plastic too.

FredFredGeorge · 22/12/2011 11:07

You can... I've seen lots, and there's lots on amazon:

Whilst on the subject, I don't understand the deal with china plates? I have sensitive ears and so have to stack them extremely carefully to avoid them crashing together and hurting my ears. Plus plastic plates keep food warm for longer so don't need warming up, and don't smash if you drop them... currently only have 1 but need to get more.

Anyone else like this or just me?

NeuromanticisedVisionsofXmas · 22/12/2011 11:45

you could stop throwing your glasses on the floor and just use proper ones?

jumpingjackhash · 22/12/2011 11:49

Can't you just learn to stop dropping them? Problem solved Xmas Grin

NinkyNonker · 22/12/2011 11:52

Try some yachting supply companies, most yachts have plastic glasses.

I was gonna say they do them in the 99p shop but the ones there dont look quite so posh as the links everyone else has been putting! but they did have plain plastic picnic tumblers in there before which seemed ok to me

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 22/12/2011 12:37

We use all plastic plates and bowls, and some cups and glasses - have done since DD was big enough to be a "threat" to breakable ones. With 3 LOs it just made sense to keep using them. They're cheap, cheerful, unbreakable, easy to wash, what's not to like?

FredFredGeorge · 22/12/2011 14:01

Jarl - I'm quite fussy about plates (and other things) and all I want is a plain unglazed (or with a very minimal matt glaze) stoneware white plates, and I can't find them anywhere. China plates are a terrible idea!

NeuromanticisedVisionsofXmas · 22/12/2011 14:12

Whats not to like? The feeling of being a three year old would do it for me!

angelpuss · 22/12/2011 15:16

We got plastic pint glasses from one of the cheap shops when we were having our extension built as we didn't want the builders breaking the proper glasses and we also got some tumblers from Ikea.

But like Shatners said, it's probably the wrong season for them!

feelingbullied · 23/12/2011 11:35

lol, tell that to my kids and my niece/nephews. or their dad, or just accident prone the lot of us. :o

I have lovely correlle plates. they stack into a neat little pile. about ten of them weigh as much as a single denby plate. try those?
