we always had our Santa gifts in a pillowcase so I was going to carry on that laziness tradition but she's been asking for a stocking...I keep telling her we have pillowcases in our house.

We had an actual sock (one of my dad's). The advantage to the parent of an actual sock is that it comes in a pair so you can put one on the end of the bed and take the other downstairs to stuff. The changeover is quick and easy and minimal chance of DC waking up. Also, zero chance of them waking up while the stocking is missing. Oh yes, and socks are small.

We had an actual sock too - one of my dad's walking socks! We kids have also had a 'stocking' - albeit purpose built ones!

But not all their presents come from Father Christmas - the big ones go under the tree and are from 'Mummy and Daddy'.

Does everyone have either a stocking/tight/sock or pilowcase then? We never had any of them.

Stocking here - can't imagine you'd get the same satisfying bulge with a pillow, surely?

Yeah, a manky old pair of tights with a clementine in the toe bit! Thanks mum! Xmas Wink Your DD should think herself lucky OP (unless the pillowcase has dribble stains on) Xmas Grin

My mum did buy me a proper stocking later on though and we have stockings in our house now. DD2's is tiny, I might as well have given her a sock really but she's only 10 months so I don't think she'll mind. Xmas Smile
