We stayed at my parents on Sunday and just had 1 set of keys. DH dropped me to work on the way home and took my keys home. Halfway through my shift I realised that I couldn't get in (DH working lates) and emailed him re key, to which I get the following reply
"Its in the pop next to the door pushed into the soil under the pinky purple flower. You should be able to see the top sticking out?."

FF to today. I go to go in my house and MY HOUSE KEY IS MISSING. Phoned DH and he said that he took it off my keyring. He didn't bother to tell me and why would I think he had done so when WE HAVE A SPARE FRICKING KEY ???

He is out and will not be back until 7pm. I have £2, no phone as it is indoors. I can't get hold of my parents who have a spare key. Fortunately I work for the police and as our house is next door to the police station I have somewhere to go. I have LOADS to do this afternoon, the whole point of him being out this afternoon was so that I could get on with some cooking and Christmas sorting in peace. I can't even get on with the Christmas presents I was going to buy because the ID to get the money from the savings account is....... in the house

I am absolutely apoplectic with rage and now to make matters worse he is ignoring my calls.

WIBU to murder him when he gets in ?????

Where is the child, for pity's sake?!

OhdearNigel · 21/12/2011 16:06

DH will go absolutely mental if I pay for a locksmith, it is not an option.

DD is with DH + FIL

Sad poor you. YANBU at all.
At least you have gloves Blush
Sorry. Give him hell when he gets back Wink

KatieScarlettsCrackers · 21/12/2011 16:11

Dh does not get to decide the matter.

So what if he goes mental, maybe the cost will help him remember to be more considerate in future.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 21/12/2011 16:11

But he aware of your predicament and doesn't appear to care. Doesn't your FiL care, either? Why are they driving your DD all over Kent when you are locked out? Are they insane?

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 21/12/2011 16:12

Sorry, But he is aware

iwanttogetoffnow · 21/12/2011 16:12

Sounds like it.

OhdearNigel · 21/12/2011 16:15

We cannot afford a locksmith simply to save me the inconvenience of sitting at work for 3 hours. We do NOT have the money. Even if DH told me to get one out I still wouldn't do it.

On the plus side I have ordered some publicity material for an upcoming wedding fayre (I make wedding cakes) that I've been putting off for 3 weeks.

I feel your pain, it's the sort of thing DH would do without thinking. I would just use my £2 to go and buy a coffee and make it last a Very Long Time while thinking Very Bad Thoughts about DH.

No friends you can pop in on for a free coffee natter?

OhdearNigel · 21/12/2011 16:26

The only friend that might have been available wasn't answering her phone. Oh well, Dad will be here soon and I will have at least 2 quiet hours

Enjoy your cava and resist the temptation to brain DH with the empty bottle.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 21/12/2011 16:33

So your father's got a key?

iwanttogetoffnow · 21/12/2011 16:35

oh good. Enjoy your quiet 2 hours and Wine

He seems bloody incompetent. I would hate to be married to an incompetent dimwit like him.
