The first one was amusing. All these latest ones are awful imo. And not in the spirit of Christmas. Am glad I shop at Morrison's where they have a big wheel and singing and stuff.

YANBU... the underlying message seems to be that 'people who shop at Aldi are cheap and creepy with a selfish streak'. Odd way to talk about your customers Hmm

carernotasaint · 20/12/2011 16:38

I hate the cheating bastard one where he has a bottle of Baileys and a bottle of the cheapie version for each girlfriend.
wonders why they didnt make an ad featuring the girlfriend in reply like they did with the granny/two kids/socks/choccie reindeer. hmmm

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 20/12/2011 16:41

I love them. Especially the gin one Xmas Grin

Sparklingbaubles · 20/12/2011 17:31

I am not creepy or selfish but I shop in Aldi. But for some reason I have never bought anything from Aldi and given it as a gift because i would be worried people would judge the gift. That's bonkers right? Confused

CogitoErgoSometimes · 20/12/2011 17:37

It's not bonkers sparklingbaubles... people would judge you for an Aldi gift, and probably on the strength of the adverts alone :) In the past they may have said nothing and been grateful, but now they would know for definite that you'd had the choice between a nice Lindt chocolate reindeer or a lookalike Aldi one and either a) you're stony broke or b) you felt they weren't worth the extra 50p....

Sparklingbaubles · 20/12/2011 17:49

Exactly Cogito. I couldn't buy them a bottle of Southern Belle because they would know it was pretend Southern Comfort. But I drink the pretend stuff myself. It's weird.

CuriousMama · 20/12/2011 19:42

Oh i forgot about the 2 bottles for wife and gf one. Not nice! I hope they're watching Xmas Wink

apparently the Aldis baileys is lovely my auntie who used to be a marks and spencers lady loves it Xmas Smile and its cheaper than bailieys

RagamuffinAndFidget · 20/12/2011 23:05

Was it an Aldi advert which had the cat 'talking' about fishfingers? And then he threatens to eat the goldfish for pudding? I fecking love that one. Have hardly seen any of the others though.. I feel I'm missing out.

Zondra · 20/12/2011 23:05

I think these adverts are genius!
I love the gin one & the bubbly one!
