... vomited early this morning? She seems much, much better already. you know how they perk up...

I was thinking, if she sat in the trolley seat (she is 6yo but tiny!) and i put gloves on her so she doesnt touch anything/ spread germs.

i would never take her to visit people until 48 hours later, but i figured that if she's not in a confined place and doesnt touch anything that others will touch, then we might be ok to do a quick shop.

what dyou think?

Ah. Hope she's better soon.

noonar · 20/12/2011 12:51

ooh, and just to ensure a real flaming.... that sickness episode on holiday was on the eve of our departure, so we had no choice but to board a plane home within 24 hours . i know that this was very far from ideal but my perception was that we had no choice.

If she's not being sick anymore, I would take her.

The people telling you off on here will never knowwwwww.

snuffaluffagus · 20/12/2011 13:18

x post!

Noonar, you are doing the right thing in not taking her, thank you..i wish more people were so considerate.

i am shocked at how many people are willing to infect/inconvenience...maybe even hospitalise others..anonymously of course...just so that they can carry on with their own lives.

many shops do have a delivery service, not just big ones, for example..our local greengrocer will take an order and payment over the phone, deliver same day (usually) and will ring bell and leave it on doorstep so they wont get contaminated....i am sure there are many little shops who would do this.

Pagwatch · 20/12/2011 13:44

Oh I hope she is better soon. I think you were sensible to wait and perfectly reasonable to ask.

I am glad you postponed. My DD ended up in intensive care and nearly died from rotavirus when she was two. I remember having a pretty fraught conversation with another mum about nipping out with a child who has recently vomitted a few weeks afterwards.

If my dc vomit I keep them home. Just in case they pass something on to someone less able to fend it off.

DorisIsMerryOnChristmasSprits · 20/12/2011 14:53

Hope she feels better soon. FWIW the bug I still (bastard) have just doesn't seem to be shifting just have a bloated uncomfortable feeling of "not being right" which I'm sure most children would be fiarly perky with. Just to warn...

Floggingmolly · 20/12/2011 15:39

Boarding a plane whilst returning from holiday is in no way on the same level as a completely voluntary pop to the shops, op. You didn't do much for your rational arguement throwing that one in, and no brownie points either Xmas Hmm

recall · 20/12/2011 15:40

YABU, and could fuck up Christmas for many families !

thisisyesterday · 20/12/2011 15:44

erm yeah, yabu

what if she coughs? or sneezes? or, if she vomits again?

seriously, I normally think that the 48 hr rule is a little bit excessive, and I am not ultra-paranoid when it comes to getting illnesses... but she was only sick this morning! and you risk passing on a nasty bug to anyone you come near in the Supermarket, just before Christmas.

not to mention the fact that while she may seem ok mooching about at home she might feel really crappy trailing round the shops.

just don't.

noonar · 20/12/2011 15:51

floggin, i wasnt after brownie points Grin just chatting. i think the difference on that journey is that we felt very unwell, whereas today, i thought initially dd was better.

There's Bob Hope & no hope if a delivery slot anywhere this side of Christmas for the big supermarkets now. I feel
I must just add my tuppence worth!

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/12/2011 18:10

Ocado still have slots for tomorrow.

And noonar - hope your little girl feels better soon.

stuffthenonsense · 21/12/2011 20:20

Hmmph...im thinking the vomit bug has been passed over the internet! Since posting on here i have been vomitting sooo much....and at 28 weeks pregnant with a really wriggly baby it has been awful.
