to wonder exactly when you all wrap gifts?

Ok, DD is in bed, I have some wrapping to do, DD is not well atm, and I don't want to start getting paper and sellotape out if it will wake DD up. There just never seems to be a good time. During the day, DD is always with me, and at night time, I am worried she will wake and come downstairs to find me surrounded by goodies I am wrapping.

So when do you wrap your gifts?

I must admit, I have wrapped all of DD's apart from 2/3, but I did those when she was at nursery.

Do other parents worry like this? Or is it just me? Grin

Just done all my daughters.
Years of practise on ebay parcels meant they were all done in less than an hour yay!!!

TrinityRhino · 20/12/2011 11:53

I hate wrapping with a passion
I can never get it to look like I want it and it seems to take forever

I got dd1 (110) who for some reason loves wrapping to do some last night

she was so chuffed at being allowed to wrap AND being allowed up a bit later to do it

and got some of it done for me
win win
Grin

CroissantNeuf · 20/12/2011 11:54

Trinity - I was on the verge of paying 12 yo DD to write the cards this year Xmas Grin

TrinityRhino · 20/12/2011 11:58

I skipped over that problem by not sending any cards Grin

TwelveGaysOfChristmas · 20/12/2011 13:51

LittleMissSarcastic - definitely! I'm in South Wales, would you like to deliver them by car or send them via the post?

If DCs wake to the sound of sellotape, cut all the tape pieces before they go to bed and stick them on the side of coffee table or the like. 3 pieces per gift. Crepe paper doesn't make noise.

For us though, DD helps me with the wrapping, this year she has wrapped all her own gifts (she is 5) but previously she's been Bow Attendant or Sellotape Dispenser or the like.

Her gifts only took 20 minutes or so to wrap and I did that last week, they are all under the tree being poked regularly by little fingers. Wrapping doesn't take me very long - lay out tape all in its pieces, paper and scissors. Write gift cards first. Present on, cut, fold, tape, stick on tag. The gift is exposed to the air for all of 20 seconds.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 20/12/2011 14:51

I keep my presents for DS at work....I really need to find the strength to wrap them!

Snorbs · 20/12/2011 14:53

I did most of mine last night. The rest will have to wait until Amazon manages to get them delivered

I don't like leaving it all until Christmas Eve as it can take bloody ages and there are always more fun things to be doing with the kids rather than trying to hide from them.

bagpuss · 20/12/2011 15:01

I do mine as they arrive, usually in the day when the dts have a nap and then hide them all before other dc get back from school. Stocking presents all get wrapped and then put into carriers labelled with each child's name and hidden so that all I have to do on Christmas eve is retrieve them and tip into each stocking Xmas Smile. I have wrapped on Christmas eve before now and it really is no fun when I could be sipping a G&T and enjoying the peace before the big day instead Xmas Grin.

xmyboys · 20/12/2011 15:04

I wrapped some last night, dc asleep very near, so only did one at a time and had clean garbage bag ready for completed one. All of father Christmas wrapped last night. Will hopefully do lots more tonight!

EtInTerraPax · 20/12/2011 20:04

Bugger! Having carefully wrapped all gifts... I have now forgotten where I carefully put DH's birthday gifts, needed this week. Hmm

stubborncow · 20/12/2011 20:12

I work full-time and did most of mine at work while waiting or emails to arrive and things! Blush

Otherwise it will be after they are in bed, on the sitting room floor, in front of the TV (while OH is in the shower for his pressie!)

CurlyBoy · 20/12/2011 21:32

Wrapped some today while our 2 yo was out with my wife and finished up tonight when he was in bed. Easy peasy!

whackamole · 20/12/2011 21:44

I did mine on my bed when the boys were at nursery. They are 3, and I am on maternity leave so easy for me! Next year I will probably do it when they are in bed, assuming they continue to be the good sleepers they are at the moment.
