Waitrose are not that nice...don't be fooled

Have just heard that the lovely kind Waitrose have been charging suppliers for not delivering exactly what they ordered. This may sound a bit reasonable, except that the order comes 18 hours before they want the goods delivered...fine for baked beans but not for goods that have to be prepared at the time due to shelf-life. They also charge for complaints, and are apparently the most unfriendly of all the supermarkets!
Read this quickly, as I suspect that this may be disappeared by the scary supermarket fairies!!!

what is your agenda OP
are you a disgruntled supplier?

WoTmania · 19/12/2011 18:22

I'm not seeing the problem.

SardineQueen · 19/12/2011 18:23

No it's an xmas panto thread

OP: "Waitrose are not that nice"
MNers (as one): Oh yes they are!!!!

Avantia · 19/12/2011 18:28

I love Waitrose

worldgonecrazy · 19/12/2011 18:33

It's the school holidays, well at least for public/private schools. So we just get a better class of troll for a few days.

I strongly suspect a case of "Let's go on Mumsnet and wind them up - I know, I'll slag off Waitrose, that will get them all frothing".

WowOoo · 19/12/2011 18:35

I'll repeat what other posters have said. I'm a customer and the customer service I've had from Waitrose means they'll get my business again and again.
That goes for Morrisons too. They are fab. As for Tesco, they can feck right off.

At this time of year, I'm sure any business whose supplier doesn't live up to promises gets it in the neck.

SootySweepandSue · 19/12/2011 18:38

What the OP describes is standard. I think in terms of dealing with supermarkets there are nice people and not so nice people working for them, but most policies are quite similar.

blackoutthexmaslights · 19/12/2011 18:40

i take it you have never heard of tesco?

Oggy · 19/12/2011 18:40

Waitrose are easilly the best customer service-wise. A Waitrose shopping experience is much more pleasent than at any of the other major supermarkets.

Of course you pay for that, but if you can afford to...

QuickLookBusy · 19/12/2011 18:47

How very dare you OP.

LIZS · 19/12/2011 18:51

Agree it is fairly normal, and not exclusive to food retailing. The contract will include projected quantitiies and then orders, which are generated by current demand and take into account changes such as upcoming promotions and seasonality, will be raised much nearer the delivery time.

Blimey justcross, do you ever stop moaning? Xmas Hmm
