why does a happy and fun fuel event caused so much stress and pressure.

i am soooooo fucked off with christmas atm, all i want to do is spend the day opening the present with my kids, see there faces light up with the few presents i have got them, play board games and listen to cheesy pop music and spend the day with them as i know for the next 4 years i will be working ......but nooo, for some reason every i know has made me feel like shit because i can not afford to give my children what they want for christmas.

What you want to do sounds brilliant Smile

Leave the stress and pressure at work and ignore any fucker you think is trying to make you feel like shit.

Your kids can hope for what they want but may get what you can. Make fun for them and you the morning of. You know that what they will remember is not perfection but the things that went wrong. And if that happens with aplomb then - viola! Really, in the grand scheme of things what matters? A good laugh, a few eats and a whole lotta love. Don;t sweat it dear! When I was a child I wanted a doll - I got her. Before the day was out the brothers had fed her to the dogs and ruined her. Every year since I remember her, sometimes with affection, sometimes with humour etc. Point being it altered my life but did not ruin me or it, Do no sweat it too much...

I'd simply reply to those who feel the need to comment:

" I teach my children the real meaning of Christmas - along with lessons on appreciation and feeling very lucky for what they do have in life compared to millions of others. That's a valuable lesson."

I have bought my DS more than enough this year because I can. Some years I'm sure that won't be the case. But, what I do or don't manage to buy has nothing to do with it. The most important part is we get to spend quality time with each other, we count our blessings for how fortunate we are and we have a think about those who are not so. He's only 2 so obviously doesn't grasp the concept of poor people yet, but I still tell him anyway as, to me, that's more important than the gifts under the tree (although they're a nice part admittedly).

Your christmas sounds lovely. We are doing the same as you this year, probably added in a few "You cheated" arguments! Xmas Grin
