....... when ds has chicken pox?

The spots started appearing wednesday morning, by Wednesday night he had a nice even covering with some starting to burst, yesterday the covering was getting denser and this morning there are some new ones and the majority have started to scab over.

My dilemma is that the venue will not change the tickets to later in the week when hopefully he will no longer be infectious. He has missed all of his end of school activities because of this and was really looking forward to seeing FC.

In the back of my mind I know he is still infectious and we shouldn't go but in himself he is as right as rain now and its seems such a shame that he can't go.

Your views ladies.........

I wouldn't , no
What if poor FC got shingles after working non stop for last few weeks he'd have a rubbish Xmas cos of you!!

MissPenteuth · 16/12/2011 12:19

Chicken pox can be fatal to people with compromised immune systems. If he's still infectious, you really should keep him in, sorry.

MatLeaveForever · 16/12/2011 12:20

I think you know the answer to this, don't go! You could always get someone to get a Santa costume and dress up as him in your home (oo er)

WorraLiberty · 16/12/2011 12:20

Sorry but no way.

The place will be chokka with children who your child could potentially put at risk.

I'd make a special tea at home, put some xmas films on and maybe let him open one prezzie.

Actually, I had measles when I was little and had to miss my trip to Santa and that's exactly what my Mum did.

I still have a spotty photo of me, tucking into jelly and ice cream in my party hat Xmas Grin

No, you shouldnt go. It is unfair to those who will be around you in what is likely to be a cramped area and close proximity to others who you could be putting at more risk.

WorraLiberty · 16/12/2011 12:22

You can't get shingles from a child with chicken pox, but a child can get chicken pox from someone with shingles.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 16/12/2011 12:25

I would not go in your shoes. Especially where people are likely to be crowded together and there will almost certainly be pregnant women and newborn babies.

Sassee · 16/12/2011 12:26

Don't go!

I've never had chicken pox. I spend my life avoiding children with suspicious spots! I know it's supposed to be worse in adults, don't know about that but frankly I'm that vain that a dose of chicken pox would leave me housebound!

I dread to think of people who could get really poorly, babies, the elderly etc, all over Christmas.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 16/12/2011 12:27

It is shit though for DS. Hope you make it up to him :)
