He has this high pitched twang to his normal speaking voice, which gets higher and squeakier when he's excited, and it drives me nuts. I hate it. It's just so... squeaky. I love him to bits, wouldn't change him for the world, etc. etc., but dear god I can't wait untill it drops an octave or two!

YANBU.
DD1 does not have a level tone and is permanently set to loud and squeaky. It makes me want to rip my own head off.
DD2 has this low whine/moan that is like a pneumatic drill. I almost lost it with the pair of them yesterday, and had to stand outside the front door and cry with frustration otherwise I would have completely lost the plot. Sad

My niece started doing it when baby sister arrived so I think it is an attention seeking, I am little too sort of thing but it is wearing very thin with me and the grandparents. She is now seven.

Folkgirl I do think of Violet Elizabeth Bott when I hear her. Xmas Wink

My 5 year old DD is the same. She talks like a smurf!

She goes around singing all the time, and it is like living with Hilda Ogden Grin

Wouldn't change her for the world though Smile
