Aww, that's great herbietea. Why didn't I get that lady on the phone?

I agree name and shame but I've just had Amazon refund me and send a load of stuff by quick delivery because it didn't arrive and "we had said we had fulfilled the order". I just went onto their chat section and off they went. So although I'm cross at not getting my stuff, I'm pleased that they sorted it out. I think though that they were the retailer and another company (obviously a bit rubbish) were just the courier.

nursenic · 14/12/2011 22:26

Thanks Startail-

It took them 4 darn months to register me....

Flugelpip · 14/12/2011 22:27

Amazon are evil and trying to put independent bookstores and small publishers out of business. Please think twice before buying from them or the world will be a poorer, bookshop-free place.

ChippyMinton · 14/12/2011 22:28

nursenic, I paid with a gift certificate, so Amazon have no incentive to help me out as they have my 'money' anyway.

Have to stick up for Amazon customer service - if you buy from Amazon though. They did an amazing bit of service for me the other month. I paid for express delivery, went wrong, i got a refund on all the delivery charge and she organised the courier to come back out that day, so it was a win - win to me!

FlightRisk · 14/12/2011 22:31

haha clearly only one thing on my mind Xmas Blush

ChippyMinton · 14/12/2011 22:33

The Amazon man was quite apologetic and kept saying that if it had been an Amazon order he would've sorted it straightaway. I felt like a second-class customer, having been foolish enough to buy from their Trotter Enterprises off-shoot (love that - who said it up-thread?)

Trotter Enterprises: London - Paris - Rome - Amazon

nursenic · 15/12/2011 13:26

Lots of independent booksellers sell through Amazon.....They know you have to join 'em to beat 'em.

I make sure that i choose books from independent sellers when using Amazon.

TeamSledward · 15/12/2011 22:57

But the problem with the independent sellers is that you never know who are the lovely local indy bookstore types and who are the Peckham mafia.

Bogeyface · 15/12/2011 23:01

When I sold some things via Amazon (v expensive collectables, I am a closet geek :o) I had to input proof of postage (tracking info) before they would credit me my money. So I am at a loss as to how this person is making any money.

they shouldnt make you wait that long though.

I'll second Sainsbury's are crap. Apparently, their click and collect service can't be collected after 8pm at our store. They never bloody said that when I ordered!!!! And I love Amazon. They exchanged my Kindle so quickly when it went dodgy nearly a year after we'd bought it. I had a new kindle in my hands within 24 hours, the old one was collected and everything in the world was lovely :)

flapperghasted · 15/12/2011 23:21

In fact, I've just checked my account and they haven't credited me, haven't advised that the order is cancelled. They're blardy crap!

Nevertooearlyforcake · 16/12/2011 01:16

I bought something fro
Marketplace trader the other day. Lovely lady, great to deal with so no problem there though the customer service line was a mobile phone no that no-one answered. As not amazon itself, had to pay postage then again as needed to return, costs much higher than Amazon directly. Ended up buying direct from manufacturer in the end, marketplace feels like buying from eBay

nursenic · 16/12/2011 04:59

I've fortunately never had a problem with Amazon or their traders and I buy at least 3 books a week from them (appalling bookworm,I even read walking along!) both new and used.

What a shame your experience has been the opposite.

I would still love to flame my uni admin dept. But I must not Wink

AlpinePony · 16/12/2011 06:59

I absolutely hate amazon marketplace/eBay/trotters independent trading.

I want some timberland boots for husband but obviously I don't want fakes. I've read the online reviews on marketplace and they do seem to be fakes, Wtf are amazon doing associating themselves with these market shysters? :(

nursenic · 16/12/2011 07:02

Have had to replace two ipods over last few years. I know the EU laws regarding up to ?6 years guarantee but enforcing it is easier said than done. So well done, for getting a replacement.
