AIBU to think that DC should be included when putting up Christmas decorations?

Our tree is lopsided, garish and covered in tat.
Put up by DD (8) and me.
Friend's tree is pristine and centre piece to a range of carefully selected, colour coordinated tasteful decorations throughout the house. Her DC aren't allowed to touch it let alone help decorate it. It is beautiful.
AIBU to think that this is not right or am I just jealous of her beautiful tree?!

My boys have the bottom two branches, and a smallish tree in their bedroom. They aren't allowed near anything else.

Mind you my tree isn't classy either, it LOOKS like an 8 year old's done it, that isn't the plan, I'm just not very good!

YANBU. You can definitely tell that DD put up most of the decorations (DH did lights though and I did tinsel/beads... Then we just let DD loose on it) it is actually quite nice considering she's 4! For me, it's not the overall look that counts, it's seeing all the individual decorations on there - one from my first Xmas, ones the DCs have been given each year, etc.

I got a couple of wonderful videos of her decorating it. And of her 2yo brother batting the baubles and bells like a kitten :o that's more important than any tree anyway.

We've just decided to dig out our smaller (Asda smart price!) tree for our bedroom - this is where the FC presents will go - so maybe that one will be the height of sophistication...
