you can buy small IKEA goods e.g. the ones from the market hall area, on Amazon therefore no longer needing to visit the giant blue pit of doom itself!

I love IKEA but my nearest is in Tottenham, takes me a good 90 minutes.

londonone · 14/12/2011 20:21

Late Saturday night is also good, but slightly tragic. DH and I found a new low in our date nights when we had dinner at IKEA on a Saturday night Xmas Grin

Is that to drive there Yellow or to escape once you've finished shopping!

Great find, but there's a sting in the tail.

IKEA Ringum rug, from IKEA in store: £6.99
From Amazon: £17.99

Ouch!

purplehonesty · 14/12/2011 20:38

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh. Ikea is 4 hours from me!!

BendyBob · 14/12/2011 20:39

Oh dear that's torn it then. Half the joy is the price.

When we had an Ikea open near us a few years ago I was so excited. As I stood at the entrance of the market hall dh said 'Now...control yourself.' (as if)

SoupDragon · 14/12/2011 20:40

There is a horrendous mark up. Mainly because they appear to be sold by a third party, not Ikea (or Amazon)

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 14/12/2011 20:45

it also looks like 'old' stock.

But thanks for finding it, always handy to know, especially if you dont live near one.

I quite like going to Wembley and stocking up on Asian ingredients at Hoo Hing on my way to Ikea. Sad thing that I am.

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 14/12/2011 20:53

Love this thank you London! Our nearest is Warrington and is like nothing else on this planet!

I too look forward to dossing my DS into the creche for FREE tea + coffe and DAIM CAKE

KittyFane · 14/12/2011 20:57

jax Old stock at Ikea? They've been selling the same stuff for years! (But I still love it!)

TheRuderBarracuda · 14/12/2011 21:00

Now all I have to wait for is Tesco/Waitrose/Pizza Hut SOMEONE to start stocking and delivering Daim Cake, Gravadlax with strangely delicious dill sauce and hot dogs and my life will be perfect.

MissPenteuth · 14/12/2011 21:02

I've driven past Hoo Hing loads of times Jax, is it worth a visit? (P.S. Did you see the SoA S4 finale?).

Fiendishlie · 14/12/2011 21:40

The small lack side table is not much more than a fiver at idea and is £17.99 on amazon Xmas Shock. I'm with HeidiKat, I enjoy a visit now and again. Not at the weekend or in the school hols though.

Fiendishlie · 14/12/2011 21:43

TheRuderBarracuda, just spotted your post, sorry. They have Almondy cake in my tesco. Daim cake through and through Grin. It's frozen.

redpanda13 · 14/12/2011 21:46

I don't know about other Ikea stores but the Glasgow one has the hotdog stand right at the loading bay. My highlight of an Ikea visit is watching people trying to load all their goods into their too small cars. Last time I witnessed a car driven away with a mattress hanging out the back, a couple trying to fit the largest Billy bookcase into a Ka and a couple who managed to get all their goods into their 4x4 only to realise they had nowhere to fit baby, carseat and buggy!

hellymelly · 14/12/2011 21:48

really? I am so happy to hear that.(blows actual kisses to OP)

HeidiKat · 14/12/2011 21:50

Redpanda, I once managed to get a two seater sofa home in the back of my fiesta because I was too tight skint to pay for delivery.

Byeckersitsapropercrimbolike · 14/12/2011 22:18

Our nearest is Warrington and that is an hour away, but i LOVE going, op, dh and i have also shared a saturday night meal in ikea! Xmas Sad

Redpanda, thats me, our entire living room fitted in our berlingo (l shaped sofa, tv stand, three massive bookcases and all the basket thingys to go in it plus most of the marketplace )

I also managed to fit an entire Malm bed frame, bedside tables and over bed table in an astra, they wanted to charge me £65 for delivery Xmas Shock my friend had to sit stooped all the way home!

redpanda13 · 14/12/2011 22:23

I have fitted an amazing amount of stuff into my Punto but still it is hilarious to watch others trying to fit things in. Couples are the best. The escalating tension is better than anything you will see on TV!

blackeyedsanta · 14/12/2011 22:30

whatever I buy has to come home in the pushchair. not that I bother to go that often despite it only being 10 minutes walk away. (20 home up hill) usually send ex h to pick up some biscuits on his way here. the children love them. not quite recovered from staggering round ikea 5 months pregnant with an unstable pelvis. I threatened to vomit on them if they did not let me back down the lift into fresh air pdq. seemed to do the trick. has put me off going though for some reason. Confused
