Or not delivering it as the case may be.
Further to the previous threads I am now planning on spending all day looking out of my window or possibly standing with the front door open in order to make sure the driver doesnt just photograph my house and drive off again.

I was considering making a big sign saying 'I AM IN' with tomorrow's date on it and sticking it to the front door so that it would show on any photographic evidence.

Would it be unreasonable to do so?

Sounding familiar this story... They even went so far as to photograph the front door four times, but couldn't quite manage to leave their nice cosy van and RING THE DOORBELL!!!

You could have taken in your neighbour's parcel but, when signing that you had taken it, cross out the bit that says 'received in good condition' (if you're signing on paper) or write 'unexamined' or 'damaged parcel' before signing your name if it's one of those electronic gizmos. I never sign for anything without writing 'untested' or 'unexamined' whomsoever I take it in for.

I was due a delivery from Citylink yesterday, "sometime between 7.30am and 5.30pm." When I called to ask for a rough idea of when, in order that I could nip round the block with the dog with a clear conscience, they said they couldn't say. But then they checked my number and said it hadn't arrived in their depot so wasn't coming at all that day, but "probably" the next day (when I was going to be at work). I asked if anyone might have thought to call me and tell me that, rather than me waiting in all day for nothing, but apparently it "wasn't her job" to do that.
So I re-arranged for next Monday, and went about my errands in and out all day. At 2.30pm, when I happened to be still in, a lorry arrived with my delivery on board!

Am I chuff calling them to cancel next Monday. It's "not my job," after all. They can work it out themselves.

Bloody Hermes left a Lands End package in 'a secure location' according to their tracking thing. No sign of it. They probably left it in the bin shed on Friday but we were away- bins collected on a Saturday....The lady at Lands End was lovely though and sent out a replacement parcel straight away (by royal mail- will probably never arrive..)

Then Yodel (I think) left a box on the doorstep so when we came back after the weekend it was totally sodden through after all the rain and everything was ruined. Luckily was John Lewis who also sent replacement straight away.

These delivery companies must cost millions in ruined stuff....

mabel retrospectively that would have been wise. Oh well, never mind I will do that next time.

The worst delivery we ever had (from shitty link as it happens) was when we were on holiday. They dropped a huge parcel, worth about 150 pounds over our back gate and didnt leave a note. Where they left it could not be seen from the house so my mom, who was going over everyday for the cat, had no idea it was there. The box was all broken. It rained. The item was electrical. It did not end well.
Tbf it was also the place I'd ordered from at fault as I'd asked them not to post until a certain date or at least notify me when it was coming. But still to just chuck it over the fence was not great.

MaryPoppins - I have to order online as I am not allowed to drive due to epilepsy. So I can't hire a van. Also, unless I want to go to a coffee shop, a nail bar or a charity shop - then I can't buy anything. I can't even buy a raincover for my Ds3's pram in my town - as we do not have any shops selling baby goods. In the whole town. Some of us really have no choice but to order online.

I have a delivery due tomorrow.

Can I just say I love my postie as well. He often stops me on my way back from the school run to say he has a parcel for me (which I've missed because I've been on the school run).
I live in Worcester, so not exactly a small village either.

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 14/12/2011 20:00

Reading these stories makes me glad (for once) that our drive is so long and steep and bumpy that couriers won't come up it. Instead, the lovely village shop staff take all our post for us and ring if anything large arrives that they want us to come and get immediately Smile

CityLink however did come up the drive last week to deliver one book that DP had ordered. The driver looked well pissed off...

molepomandmistletoe · 14/12/2011 20:09

Hermes are crap. I'm still waiting for a package I ordered on the 16th of Novemeber, nothing heard form them even after I complained. Amazon have sent a replacement out via Royal Mail at no extra charge so I'm a bit more hopeful.

However I cant fault Royal Mail. My postie or the drivers deliver so many things to me, if they see me on my way to school or out and about, they will ask me if I want to take it there and then or leave it in a safe place for me. If I am out and miss them, the manager of my local sorting office will deliver them to me personally when he's finished his shift (granted he only lives across the road) but it's still lovely of them to do this.
