to not pay Cm anything over christmas holidays

should be in CM section I know, but im just off out to soon collect dd and go to shop on the way so wanted quick responses, but do CMs normally charge over christmas holidays?

My dd is 2 afternoons a week £20 term time, then half term 2 days £64 I dont use CM end of term hols so she charges me a retainer of £37.

there is BH on tuesday 27th december a term time and half term usual day, so will not be chrged for that, but that should then quater my retainer, no? so then if expected to pay 2 week retainer it will be only about £27 rounded down?

however my Cm is a bit disaorganised about payments and it seems to take me to begin to ask and then negotiate what I am paying, I get 85% paid in student loan so happy for her to charge reatainer etc, as she doesnt charge another mindee reatiner. I have kept records so far of what I have paid and she has not, that doesnt bother me TBH. however would it be unreasonable for me to suggest no payment over the xmas holidays? I dont want to offend or put her in an awkwatd position if she does not agree?

What do other CMs do regarding time off for holiday periods?

Sorry OP gone off on a tangent..
Hope you get you differences sorted,
and please ask for a contract with her..

When I used childminder she was paid for the 3 days a week that I used her. However she wasn't ofsted registered neither did we have a contract. However she did make it clear that if we went on holiday or DS was sick then she would still need to be paid.

I always used to look at it from the point that I got paid for holidays then so should she. She used to be very flexible so that if I changed my working days for whatever reason then she would look after my son on these different days.

OP you need to keep better records of what you pay her and the days you using her - a simple spreadsheet does the trick Xmas Grin, this was something I did when I paid her every month.....

Lexie - she wasn't a childminder then.

She used to be and was ofsted registered at the time. However she was winding it down but felt that the ofsted checking process was a mockery as she used to have warning that they were coming.

I do have to say that she did come highly recommended and had minded children for 30 odd years so the fact that she was not registered was not an issue and I felt comfortble with her and DS adored her!

However still stand my comment that if you as an employee get paid holidays, why on earth would you feel you couldn't pay your cm for holiday time to....
