to give it all to charity rather than eBay.

Have loads if baby clothes to get rid of.

They've say in a cardboard box for 6 months with 'to eBay' written on it.

I can't be arsed. The money would definitely be useful and feels wasteful but it's just such a hassle for what could be very little back.

Mumsnet vote please.

It's not wasteful to give it to charity!

I feel guilty that I eBay so much stuff now that I hardly donate anything.

Do it.

fatfingers · 13/12/2011 10:11

Charity. I ebay stuff if I really need the money but if I don't I just give to charity.

lesley33 · 13/12/2011 10:11

Give it to charity. Totally understand where you are coming from with this. My DP loves to car boot stuff. I would rather just give it to charity - lot less effort and is helping someone out.

LizzieBusy · 13/12/2011 10:13

I never ever EBAY. I always give to charity. I only give small charity donations so I think at least in this way I am giving something apart from money

I've had exactly the same conversation with DH. I was sorting out baby stuff for impending DD2 and we just had ridiculous amounts in the loft so I bundled up 2/3 of it and took it down to the charity shop. He wanted me to ebay it but I really can't be arsed, especially not at 37 weeks.

I wish my motives were more charitably based but the end result is the same Blush

I have a suitcase of DS's baby clothes to get rid of but can't quite manage it yet (well, he is still only 6 months and only recently gorwn out of the latest lot). I did donate DD's outgrown things to a friend earlier this year who has fallen on tough times. I was too lazy to ebay it all anyway and my friend appreciated it so that's what counts.

TroublesomeEx · 13/12/2011 10:14

Charity.

It's not wasteful and I'd rather our old baby clothes etc went to charity rather than got sold on ebay to someone who is hoping to get it for next to nothing.

If it's baby stuff is there a LA Mother and Baby Unit or something you could donate too?

fluffytowels · 13/12/2011 10:45

Good point. There is a DV unit which has just opened in town. I'll ask them if they want it.

What a good idea fluffytowels!

halcyondays · 13/12/2011 11:24

I'd give the bulk of it to charity and maybe eBay a few selected items. In general baby clothes don't seem to sell that well unless it is a particularly nice outfit or a fairly expensive brand. But things like sleep suits don't sell that well as they are so cheap to buy new and people get lots of baby clothes as presents. Clothes for toddlers and slightly older children seem to sell better.

HeidiKat · 13/12/2011 11:26

I would probably give it to the charity shop but if you really need the money you could try selling it as a job lot for collection on gumtree, saves all the faffing about listing stuff and posting it out.

YouOldSlag · 13/12/2011 11:28

By the time you've ironed it, taken a photo of it, uploaded photo, written description and worked out postage, you often still get a) no bids or watcher or B) someone who wants the earth with a cherry on top for 99p.

Donate to your local Woman's Aid or a charity shop.

The only money I ever made on eBay for baby clothes were a couple of unworn Monsoon tops for boys. Halcyondays is right.
