My DS is 3.9 months. Last week we had his pre-school check at the quacks. Was sent a questionnaire in advance regards development, sleeping and eating habits.

One of them queried if he was dry at night. He isn't. Doctor looked at the form and said "well really you have to sort this out before he goes to school." I queried this because my view is that as long is he dry in the daytime that's all that matters.

She was taken aback by my response and went onto explain that if he wanted to stay at a friends or join the scouts or whatever it's awkward if he is still in his pyjama pants.

I take that point but honestly, he will only be 4.5 when he goes to school. She has made me feel like I am being lax. AIBU?

Children under the age of 6 rarely go to sleepovers anyway.. so you have years of getting this sorted (which I am sure it will be, in months, not years!).

I wasn't aware they even had a pre school check Grin DS is 4.3 and not had one Grin

DD only got dry very recently and she's nearly 6. She's a heavy sleeper. My GP wasn't worried at all about it when I queried and told me to come back at age 7 if she still wasn't dry.
By the way DD just got dry on her own but we still have to make sure she goes for a wee before bedtime as she still doesn't always wake up if she needs a wee.

3.9 yr olds don't go to scouts OP - you should tell your GP that!

I'm a cub leader and we always tell parents to let us know if there are any bed wetting issues when camp is coming up - we deal with it!

And these are for 8-10 y/o's so it's really not an issue OP!

Medically it is not viewed as a problem till 7. At 6 and half we were told ds2 had to wait till he was 7 before we could even be put on the waiting list for the bed wetting clinic even though ds2 would regularly cry over his bedwetting and it was really affecting his self esteem. At 3 it really is not an issue, and would imagine a large amount of 3 year olds are the same.
