AIBU to think 40 quid is too much to spend on a Christmas tree

DP was out so me and DD (6mo) went out to buy a Christmas tree today, but I came home empty handed when I discovered anything bigger than 3ft tall was 40quid or more, even for the no drop ones.

Surely this is way too much to spend on a bit of tree that'll be dead in 3 weeks?

I spent $120 13 years ago and it surprises me every year how it still looks as good as new.

I always felt a bit sad in January in the UK, seeing all the trees tossed out.

Ours is tucked away safe and sound every year.

I would love to have a real tree but can never afford it. My Mum pays around £50 for a 6 foot one. I bought a 6 foot fake one in Woolworths a few years ago for £20 and it's still as good as new. I'd definitely have a real one if I could afford it though.

paid 20 euro (18.50 pounds) for 2m (think that is 7') tree in Brussels, bought from a charity. You're all paying too much.
