extravagant an d unnessesary? Or reasonable to make sure the house is warm for DC in the morning.

What are other parents doing?

O wouldn't do it on a school night, as we are only in for 45 mins between waking up and going out, but on a Sunday, when we are in all morning, and it takes so long to wram up in the morning...?

I'd melt if mine were on all night....is that not what duvets are for? It comes on for 15 mins at 6.45 so it's on when we get up. Otherwise it's set for 15 mins maybe six diff times a day to keep a constant temp of about 18 degrees. Enough for us and we wear a jumper. And we are in Scotland. It's so warm this morning I have opened all the window....Grin

yesterday cold ( shivering) in spite of jumpers/ slippers etc I di turn the heating on as soon as we were in, but it took a couple of huors to feel warm. Trouble is it is very old, with no thermostat or timers, but I'm going to look finding out if it's possible to get those somehow fixed onto it, first thing tomorrow mornig. Last year this wasn't really an issue, we turned it on if we were cold, and it seemed to heat up fast enough.... It's been serviced and everything, so I know it's safe and working, but maybe not as efficent as ait used to be.

I would hate to have it on all night and sleep with the windows open anyway so wouldn't get the benefit. However, I'll have a newborn in a couple of weeks so will have to rethink it. We had it on for dd who was an early Jan baby but it was broken and stuck on 30! Hellish, literally.

Heating's on in here 24/7 through the winter because it's freezong if we turn it off. We're forking over about 60 bux a week on gas and 20 on leccy. But our kids are aged 5, 3, 1 and 7 months and I can't just let them freeze. I'm not exaggerating how cold it gets either. Lips, feet and hands go blue without the heating in here.

The only time I have ever left it on at night was when we had the really bad snow and didnt want the house to freeze. I did leave it on very low then nipped downstairs to alter the thermostat. I would like a programmable thermostat so I can leave it on 24/7 with the temp set low for night then warmer for when we get up
