That my £70 worth of goods haven't turned up even though they were left on my doorstep?

This is the second time this week that a package has been left outside the door (I am at work) of my straight onto the street terraced house. Also, with today's lot was an Amazon package!

As far as the companies are concerned no one has signed for them and they have never made it to me. Plus, yesterday I received a package which was full of someone elses stuff so sorted it out on the phone and arranged re-delivery of the right stuff for Tuesday next week. I think the stuff there today is the stuff I re-ordered.

It's Yodel by the way!

for hat purpose though? I agree I wouldn't be impressed and might complain, but I wouldn't say I hadn't got the stuff when I had

YuleingFanjo · 09/12/2011 17:13

to get it free! I suppose that's a bit dishonest of me. I should contact them and complain instead maybe? Let them know that this is happening and maybe they will use a better delivery company.

My Mum was considering this with QVC as the delivery van keeps leaving her stuff in public places despite her complaining previously.

ExquisiteChristmasCake · 09/12/2011 17:16

I like your thinking. You will be flamed. Grin

picnicbasketcase · 09/12/2011 17:19

Bloody yodel are awful.

I wouldn't do what you're suggesting though, I would feel too guilty.

I've had this too with Yodel and HDNL (although admittedly they at least throw it over then back gate Hmm).

I've been tempted to do the same as you too but have felt too guilty

mysteryfairy · 09/12/2011 18:05

I think it would fit the legal definition of theft to do so. Depends firstly if you think it's morally ok and, assuming you do, whether you want to risk a conviction for doing it.

randommoment · 09/12/2011 18:09

I'm afraid it would be theft. But you do need to let the seller know that their delivery company is a pile of poo.

Trills · 09/12/2011 18:12

That would be stealing. So yes of course YWBU.

Trills · 09/12/2011 18:12

As random says, you should complain and tell them that they should switch delivery companies

SantasNutellaFairy · 09/12/2011 18:27

It's not just you.

I had a little note on my carpet the other day when I got home from work. Apparently, my parcel was left in a secure place- my shed.

For a start, my shed is in my back garden. Behind a 6 foot wall and gate which is kept locked at all times. My shed has no door.

After nearly half an hour of searching in the pitch black, I finally located it. It had been thrown in. " Bottles of perfume as Christmas gifts.

They are truly crap.

GoEasyPudding · 09/12/2011 19:11

No, dont do it. Its like sick days, its best to just wait until it really happens and you really need to report such things - other wise you are tempting fate and karma and all that stuff!

YuleingFanjo · 09/12/2011 19:19

ah - just got home and it wasn't £70 woth of stuff but one thing which was missed off my other order originally. I will just complain to them instead. Obviously I don't want to be a thief!

Yodel are a total nightmare for just leaving stuff in full view. But companies dont care; to them, a courier is a courier....
