DH has cancelled my credit card - AIBU to be furious?

DH and I have joint finances and have a joint credit card.
Due to DH putting the deposit for a car on the debit card rather than the credit card we are temporarily skint. Have had to spend saving for various boring domestic reasons but will be getting some money early next year.

We got new credit cards about a month ago when Barclaycard took over Egg. I signed mine, put it away and am now using it; DH lost his.
DH told Barclaycard that his was missing yesterday.

I have taken a few days annual leave to go Christmas shopping and went up to the checkout only to told that my card was cancelled. The current account is overdrawn and now I have no credit card. I did have one other card in my name that I hardly ever use I have discovered that this is locked too.

IABU to want to kill him?

Used to have XH as second user on one of my cards (when he was still H, obviously). He was forever losing the bloody things. I got sick of having the number changed in the end and had them take him off, and told him to get his own jolly old card. Mean ain't I.

He accused me of hiding his card on purpose the last time, so I'd have an excuse to cancel it. Hmm

Actually I'd be irritated too. When I saw the thread title I assumed he'd deliberately cancelled it, in a controlling sort of way. So cancelling his and accidentally cancelling yours in the process didn't seem so bad in comparison Xmas Smile

Can you do a bit of window shopping before going back to work, then order everything online once you've got your new card?

puzzlesum · 07/12/2011 19:11

There was another thread today that confirmed that there is no such thing as a joint credit card, only a credit card with a second card holder on the account. Presumably he could cancel yours without cancelling his, but not vice versa.

Bad time of year to discover that!

Exactly unfit
That's a good idea Misspent, feel better after Wine!

OOI, we have our own cards and bank accounts, but I have one credit card with DPs name on it on my account just in case.

Although it has my name on one and her name on the other, they have the same card number.

I just had a look to check.

brandysoakedbitch · 07/12/2011 20:31

Actually my egg cards had the same number so if one was cancelled then the other to, and they were reissued in pairs too

Ringo81 · 09/12/2011 10:47

Cards on joint bank accounts will have different PAN, security numbers etc so only the lost card would be stopped. But joint credit cards are identical so if one is lost both are cancelled. That's the way it is at the bank I work for anyway!

If you loose one or fraud is committed on one of a joint account both get replaced I'm afraid.
I have had mine replaced when DH's had fraudulent transactions on his twice. It's a pain but it's a precaution... Tbh I would rather that than somebody spending all my cash. But it is very annoying for the few days til the new one arrives.
