So. A mother of child at DS2 school parks a few streets from school. We usually cross paths on the way to school about 3pm. As she swings into the road, 9 times out of ten she is on the phone. With other child in front seat. She is usually on the phone on the way home too, with 2 more kids in the back.

I have seen her numerous times and have walked on saying nothing. But, I am a bit sick of seeing it. Once or twice is forgivable (only just) but she seems to be at it all the time.

Is it my place to have a quiet word? She does look a bit tasty, as in approach with caution, and that, but I am getting right annoyed with it.

What Baubles said.

I am a massive coward.

Are there any other problems with cars near the school? Our HT was persuaded to call the local coppers about persistant parking on double yellows, they still wander round every few weeks or so at pick up time. Have to say it has worked wonders.

I'm still flaming about the guy who went down our residential street last year, both hands resting on the wheel, reading/typing a message on his blackberry and doing 30 mph. I didn't know I knew words like that Blush

Our local police force have a non emergency phone number and website for this specific reason. It's called Operation Crackdown and you can report all dangerous driving abandoned cars etc. Might be worth having a look to see if yours does too

Funnily enough I was going to start a thread about similar today.

Only with mine, the woman driving (at speed, I might add, and down a narrow road with cars parked on one side, a couple of hundred yards from a school) nearly caused a head-on collision with me. After stopping and gesturing to put her phone down, she drove even closer to me so that I was forced to drive up onto the (thankfully clear of pedestrians) pavement. She then wound down her window and shrieked at me to get out of her way, it was an emergency. I told her to put her phone down and that I would take her reg number to report her (I was quite shaken at the near-miss) and guess what she yelled (after a good bit more swearing)?

'I don't care. Now get out of my way'

So there you are. IMO, those who use their phone while driving (safe hands-free excepted of course) consider themselves to be above the law and don't care whether you report them or whether they are endangering themselves or other people with their twattishness.
