My nearly 3 year old son told me tonight he wants to smoke like daddy when he grows up. I've just ordered the free quit smoking kit I've seen on a tv advert. Planning to wrap it up and put it under the tree.

Oh, now that's a good idea. Leccy fags are fairly excellent for people who like smoking as well as those considering giving up, because you really can just whip the thing out for a quick puff whenever you feel the need and it is totally harmless to everyone else.

yabu for being all passive-aggressive with the quit kit Hmm

Tell him what DC said, if that doesnt make im want to stop then there is nothing you can do.

YANBU to want him to give up at all. But wrapping up a 'stop smoking' kit is unlikely to get the result you want. Your DH will most likely just be irritated and it may make it harder to have a proper conversation about your concerns.

You should talk directly to him about this rather than tiptoeing around the subject. You can't force him to quit but you can outline your concerns clearly.

DO NOT DO THIS PLEASE. Not unless you want the mother of all arguments. I smoke and have tried numerous times. DH once nagged the hell out of me about it and we nearly separated over it. Smokers are very aware of how much their partners dislike it and they (usually) feel guilty about it already. Throwing it in their face will be counter productive, sit down and talk about it properly. You are asking a lot, therefore you need to ask nicely.
